Account Suspension Warning
Hi I just receive via my email an account suspension warning. It is very concerning since I am not doing any sorts of whatever it is claiming I am doing.

Here is the letter with the mail I hope I can post photo but I dont know how to do it here.
It came from steamappeal@gmail.com.

Is this pishing?

Please steam do something about this. Somebody has hacked into your system and got our email addresses?

Here is the letter from steam support of that said email address:

"Hello,
You have a new message from STEAM Support
Ban features include purchasing, changing password, changing email, Trading, Community Market, and playing on VAC enabled servers.
Your account will be banned in 30 days for being involved in illegal giveaway activities. This suspension will be removed if you comply an appeal within 30 days.

Reply on this message to request an Appeal.

Regards,
STEAM Support"

Yes it is phishing, and these have been going around for a while.

You been hijacked your account and get a fake message. Valve never gives a warning message. Just follow these steps. Do not trade until solve the problem.

Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
Change passwords from a clean computer
Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App
Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey

All steam support emails end in @steampowered.com, not gmail.

why would steam use gmail account? its a phishing site
hotdogPi Jan 21, 2019 @ 5:46am
It's a scam. It is impossible to be banned from changing password, and you cannot be VAC banned for things that would normally cause a trade ban or community ban.

That's what I thought so. But how are they able to get my email?
and suddenly I got an invite from this guy:
https://steamcommunity.com/id/PCGAMINGTOPENDSLI

He must have something to do with this email.

Can somebody from steam help me on this?
I can find any chat support here with regards to this problem

can anyone vouch for Mr.Kims comment about "Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/" is this safe to download and use?
hotdogPi Jan 21, 2019 @ 5:50am
It's safe. (You will get a 404 not found page due to the quotation mark in the link; just go to the home page after that.)

I've seen these for UPLAY and Origin accounts too (i've gotten them for my UPLAY account many times myself).

Steam will never issue an account suspension. You own the games you purchased.
You can however be banned from playing a game online from cheating, etc.
You will find all related bans/notices in your Steam account via the Steam APP itself. (typically via the notifications section, you know...where the megaphone looking thing is).

Incorrect. They do but not through that avenue. They give account alerts in the client itself.

But searching the email in the search would have yielded answers.

Unless that account is in question for security reasons, actual suspensions for a prolonged period of time...does not exist.

Meaning that just because you're a jerk online, or even cheating in games...you won't be suspended.
However things like fraud, etc will obviously lead to an account suspended.

This should be common sense, and I really shouldn't have to further reitterate.

I have been contacted by a steam friend that I am never in contact with and that I am about to get banned for a mistaken Illegal purchase. They have said that there is this "admin" that needs my side of the story to reverse the ban. Do steam staff use discord because that is how we are communicating
