Why can't Valve hardware ban VAC banned accounts?

i heard they don't do it intentionally so that when people chat on games they would have to buy it again and again and that gives them money, but you know, Valve has money. Maybe there is something that i don't know about how hardware bans work or something?

You underestimating Kids, also learning how to change/spoof HWID is 1 google search away and it's really not hard.

Also, if VAC would ban Hardware ID's, cheats would come with a build in HWID Spoofer along with the Anti Cheat countermeasure, the only way to catch a cheater is while they think their cheat is still undetected, what VAC already does.

HWID and IP bans dont work. Not everyone that plays owns a computer - Cybercafe - so you would get businesses locked out of the game. Some countries, that is the only way people can afford to game.

They can just follow instructions from a video called "How to remove VAC ban (VAC BYPASS WORKING 2018 100%)" instead. Hell, even without a bypass they are still following it like the gullible people they are.

Punkbuster used to do this many years ago. Cheat devs started including HWID spoofers in their cheats for Battlefield to bypass it. IP/Hardware bans will do nothing.

owners wouldn't let people download weird stuff to their property now right?

many accounts get banned because they used a cybercafe to game on, and someone who was using the computer before them downloaded cheats. Some people bring the cheats with them on a USB drive, others download from a website. It is very difficult to lock out every possible way of installing a cheat on a computer, and it only takes a few seconds to install it.

If I owned an internet cafe and had $40,000 worth of PC's and some morons installed cheats via a drive or downloaded them; that would render the PC's useless and have to be replaced. That would not be fair and bloody expensive.

People think Valve do it to keep raking in the cash but they are certainly missing out on money from users who don't play the game because of cheaters.

Hardware ID is Windows-only feature. Neither Linux nor Mac OS have them. And will not have in the future. As it is well known PC itself has no serial number. But some computer parts have (hard drive, ethernet adapter, almost always DIMMs, from time to time motherboard). But Stesm client doesn't have access to these numbers - only superuser in Unix-like systems has it. Except MAC address which takes 10 sec to change.
So HWID ban will affect only Windows users.
