I have been wrongly accused of cheating and I think I know why
Ok, so I have been recently VAC-banned in CS:GO and I think I know why.
I got some amazing over the top kills in this one Deathmatch game, I swear I was not cheating. However, I do have a mod for CS:GO that I was NOT using. I've used it for GTA 5 and it's called the Maverick mod. If you look at it you can download it and it automatically downloads 4 different mods. One for CS:GO is included and I think that I might have turned it on without realizing it and Valve probably saw it. I've only used the cheat on GTA 5 once and got a banned for a month. The ban still isn't over and ever since I got that ban I've only ever tried to open the Maverick mod once before. I think that I turned on launch with windows at some point when I opened it. I just want to at least try to get unbanned so I can continue playing CS:GO. I understand if you don't believe me and don't want to take away the ban as I see this type of "wrongly accused" comment almost everywhere and it's hard to believe anyone when almost everyone is doing it. If you want to hear more into this please let me know as I really want to be unbanned. I just got CS:GO and I'm only level 3 or 4. I've uninstalled the Maverick Mod so it won't be detected again if it was the first time.

Is the CS:GO mod a cheat or not? If it's a cheat, your ban is correct, even if you were not using it. If it's not, contact Steam Support; they will forward it to the VAC team for review.

First, in game performance has nothing to do with VAC bans. Second, if VAC detects a known cheat the account is flagged for a ban, whether the cheat was actually being used or not. VAC doesn't look for that, only that known cheats are installed.

And VAC bans are permanent. Back when they weren't, way to many people just cheated again when theirs were lifted. So now they are pretty much permanent, and non-negotiable.

If you used a mod, Ban is justified and Permanent!

As stated, VAC doesn't care about in-game perfermance.

VAC bans are permanent.

Yes it is a cheat. However, I never intended to use it and I never will IF I get unbanned. I've only ever used it once and that was on GTA 5 ONLINE when I cheated in 20 billion and got banned for it. I never intended to use it on CS:GO but the Maverick Client Automatically installs 4 mods including one for CS:GO which I was never going to use. Which as fake as that sounds it's true. I've already uninstalled it as it could cause problems in the future.

I didn't use a mod. It was running in the background while I was playing CS:GO and I was unaware that it was.

I understand that. EVERYONE says that and I get it. However I never used it on CS:GO which means I shouldn't get banned but yet I did.

I understand that. EVERYONE says that and I get it. However I never used it on CS:GO which means I shouldn't get banned but yet I did.

VAC doesn't care if you are using it or not, just being there is enough to get flagged for a ban.
