Is VAC actually reliable?
So, as you can see, i've been stupid enought to try the efficiency of the VAC system (and i'm not proud of it). I've been detected within 30 minutes of gameplay in Team Fortress 2.

Since then i made a promise to myself to never EVER use any other cheats.

Now here's a bizarre fact: I've also been playing CS:GO and every lobby is FILLED with cheaters. They keep playing for hours and hours and nothing happens. Report, apparently, doesnt seem to do much. I can't tell if this thing has escalated quickly since CS:GO became free-to-play, but one thing is certain: this game seems unplayable.

Not to mention that theese players keep joining matches and play for hours as their profile remains untouched. So, after my experience with the Valve Anti Cheat, my legit question is ... What the hell? Isn't VAC supposed to be top-efficiency anti-cheat?

How many hours are we talking about? 10? 20?

I usually play 2 to 4 hours twice a week. The point is that some of them keep returning.

Improving your own trust factor will improve the quality of your game experience. Considering you have a VAC ban and that trust factor potentially takes into consideration your past actions on Steam, it would seem likely that your trust factor isn't as high as it could be.

VAC does an okay job but it can't do it by itself. The Overwatch system is a 2nd layer of protection that works with VAC and allows the community to take action where VAC can't or hasn't. Reporting players won't result in a VAC ban, but it can potentially result in a Game ban.

I mean, how long do they play, until they get banned.
And what do you mean with "returning"? It's pretty unlikely to get matched with the same person twice.
VAC isn’t a perfect system some cheat applications can go un noticed if the VAC doesn’t have the cheat names in the list. Also it’s slow it’s not like when you first connect to a server your gonna get VAC banned if your using cheats since VAC takes its time to determine in a way who’s using cheats.

Your account got banned.

Then, you come here and admit to cheating, then ask if VAC is reliable??

lol?

It should be noted that VAC employs the use of delayed bans in order to disrupt the development process of cheats - a ban imposed today may have been the result of a cheat detected by VAC two weeks previously.

VAC bans are nothing to do with reports. Bans are not instant and just because someone is cheating doesn't mean they are immediately detected - VAC has to detect, flag and then authorise a ban.

You were banned quickly probably because you downloaded some crappy old free cheat that was well-known to the system.

Note:
VAC does not ban based on reports. Such data is only used for tracking and statistics purposes.

Yeah ... apparently I did that. I'll tell you more: after what happened I didn't want to create another account for TF2 in order to not cheat again.

... Man ... I was obsessed with that game.

The flag and detection is instantaneous....the application of the ban is delayed, for obvious reasons.

You do have a point.
