Bought second hand PC. Have found CSGO cheats on it.
I just bought a pc today. I was told it was formatted but download folder still there. Found two 11mb files that say cheat engine and one file that says CS_WALL

I've deleted those files since i have no intention of cheating in games (whats the point?)

My question is ... how does the cheat detection work? Is it only if it is being used or does it know if i have them on my computer. Please advise if you can, I would be pretty upset getting banned under these circumstances. To my knowledge its all deleted but not sure because i never dealt with the hacks before.

Any advise is appreciated even if it's ♥♥♥♥ just be funny at least. =)

Format the hard drive and reinstall windows. It's the only sure way to remove every last trace of the cheat.

Having Cheat Engine installed or running will not cause a VAC ban and VAC will not ban for having those files. You must either use Cheat Engine to modify game memory, or inject a cheat with the injector function.

Though to be honest, you just purchased a new PC and you have 0 idea what is on there. Apart from the cheats being there, it could have keyloggers and other malicious software installed to steal your details or access your PC.

Even if your PC had no cheats on it I'd still advise a complete reformat of the drive to ensure the previous owner didn't leave anything on there to do you harm.
I'd also change all your passwords for all your accounts you used while on that PC after the nuke.

You should always fully wipe and new computer or drives as you have no idea what may be on them. Could be stuff much worse than a few game cheats. If you've logged in to anything using it be sure to change the passwords asap. Either after the wipe or using another secure device like a Mobile phone while the computer is wiping and installing the OS.
You should reformat a second hand PC the moment you get it regardless if the previous owner say's they've already done this. There's far worse things to worry about that just left over cheats.
Really appreciate the help guys. Im going to format it.
Why on earth would the person SELLING this pc... NOT have formatted it in the first place? That's an invitation to identity theft.
