Hacked account led to VAC ban, please unban!
My account was stolen and recovered by the steam support team within a few hours. The money on my account was spent and the games were gifted to different accounts. Also the hacker was playing CSGO and he was cheating, resulting in a VAC ban. Please advise what prove I can deliver you to get my account unbanned. I have emails with the exact timecodes to prove that I havent done anything wrong.

No. Regardless of who was using the account at the time of the infraction, Overwatch bans are permanent and will not be removed.

If the excuse, it wasn`t me would work, every cheater would use it. So iam sorry but the ban is permanent.
My account was stolen, and the two factor authorization and email was changed immediately. I have the steam emails that prove my statement and also the communication log with the steam support. The case is obvious, as soon as you check the time codes of the emails in chronological order. The time the cheat was used I had no access to my account.
I believe you. But that doesn't change that the ban is permanent and can't be removed.

You need to figure out how your account was stolen and take steps to ensure it doesn't happen again.

You can`t prove that it wasn`t you. IP`s can be faked , the same goes for almost every prove you could deliver.
You did not cheat you say? You are not banned -> Ok
The account was used for cheating you say? The account was banned -> Ok
What Vampire used to say?
„Users are responsible for the security of the account and all that happens on it”
@Snaggle - The problem that the account could be hacked is on steams side - the failure is that you obviously can remove a 2factor auth and Email, without access to the required cellphone. This fact makes the 2factor completely useless, I could not enable a better safety to prevent what happend. Also the fact that 130 € of steam money was used to buy games, that were gifted to different accounts and later this day given back to me by the steam support team should prove that I was the victim. I contacted the support immediatelly after the theft. Just making this all up to play CSGO with a cheat would be crazy. It would be nice if you could just have a look at the evidence and make an excemption if the steam support proves my data.
@Gilga - you say "almost every prove", is there any chance for me to prove that I am innocent? I am playing CS since 1999 and was never cheating, because I love this game :(

Makes no difference. Hijacker accessed your account and got you banned is not a valid excuse.
Account security is the owners responsibility. Hijacked account, friend, family member or someone other than you is no excuse and a flawed argument for defence.

If all we'd need to do is
1. Mask IP
2. Cheat
3. Unmask IP
4. Claim account was hijacked (not hacked.)
5. Then claim Cheating occurred while account was compromised using IP as proof
6. Get unbanned

Any cheater could repeat steps 1 - 6 every time they want to cheat without any consequences.

Banning would be a waste of time and Support staff would be flooded with unban me cases increasing wait time for genuine cases.

Bans a permanent. If you want to play on secured servers you need to create a new account. There is no way to remove your ban.

No. Regardless what you`ll do or say the ban will remain.

Then why did they go for your account? Why have we not seen a huge increase of posts of people complaining their accounts were stolen, had the money spent and their items stolen? Why did they go for your account when in theory they could go after anyones account and make a lot of money? Why is my account not stolen? Or Gilgas? Or the Steam mods/admins?

Probably because the sort of thing you're thinking about doesn't exist. Instead of blaming Steam, figure out how they were able to gain access to your details or you'll just have this happen again.

In the very very very small possibility that this exploit exists, no doubt your account and items will be returned as it was the fault of Steam. But I wouldn't hold my breath.

Hijacked not Hacked. There is a difference.

They only managed to remove that after accessing your account. That means you had already given them all they needed to access it. Nothing more Valve can do. Well they could add yet more hoops for us to jump through but the hijackers would just incorperate methods to get users to give them access. Just like the do already.

The only thing it would do is P the rest of us off. I don't need nor want the authenticator but I'm forced to use it because too many people can't think before they enter their login details.

Humans will always be the weakest link in any security measure.

Its impossible to hack accounts "on Steam's side". What happened, was on your side. You've given bad guys access to your account and it seems to enough 2FA codes. You were the one who has let that happen. If you think that 2FA is an insurance as in "sign up and go worry-free from now on", you're wrong. 2FA is a tool its a (pretty good) lock but if you don't lock your door or give bad guys your key, that's your fault.
You need to understand what you've done wrong and learn from your mistake. 20 years should have been enough to learn the basics of online security, but better late than never.

ok :( thank you for the explanation
I am very sad, that hijacking is so easy, even with enabled 2factor auth :(
I am sorry for the other CSGO players, that were in the same games with the cheater

Remember, 2FA is a tool. Yous till have to remain vigilant online or you'll suffer. 2FA is like a traffic light: Its GENERALLY safe to cross the street when you got green but you still need to be careful lest someone else screws up or is evil on purpose. Hijacking is actually darn easy if the victim is gullible, the vast majority of hijacks are essentially "give me your login credentials and 2FA codes so I can do whatever I want". If the victim wants to cooperate, the hijacker has an easy game.
If you want to have it safe & easy, you need a guardian. Like parents, such a guardian would seriously limit what you can do online, including removing options for screwing over yourself (which you have by default because that's simply the way human societies generally work).
