Cheat Engine = Instant VAC Ban?
Hy, Im new to the steam community and stuffs. And on hearing all these rumors about VAC bans.. I just got struck by a doubt and thought to ask about it here. Does having Cheat Engine installed on my pc itself can be taken as a reason for VAC ban? Or running in the background and forgot to close it before opening steam or playing games in it? And any precautions I should take for preventing any accidental bans for myself? (PS: For guys who wanna raise a question why I use CE in first place, I like using it in SinglePlayer games where I can rain havoc with inf bullets, health etc and let out some stress ofcource xD )

Installed? No.
Injected into the game? Yes.
Make sure it doesn't run when you play a VAC protected game.

How about accidently opened in taskbar and have nothing to do with the game?
No one can say what this cheat engine does on your rig.
Cheat engine software is not a trustful piece of software by definition.

A lot of people learned it the hard way when they uninstalled cheats/unallowed mods/CE software and found out later on that there is still some pieces left on their system which they couldn't uninstall with the default uninstall routine.

When you install software on your rig it may put files anywhere on your drives.
No one but the CE devs know what exactly it does on your system, so it might run some processes in the background which will trigger a ban (not only VAC, also other AC-systems) even you turned it off before you entered AC-secured servers. Sometimes this software comes with malware... no one here can tell you what "dishonorable" software really does to your system.

Some people might tell you that it is safe to use (when turned off) but no one will compensate any lose you might have afterwards...

PS:
VAC bans are delayed, so you will not have "instant bans"

It still shouldn't have any issues.

If you hook cheat engine to CSGO then you might but other then that you should be fine.

Reference : I've left cheat engine open before.

Absolutly right, it's down to the user to use and accept the consequence if punished.

I don't see how you can say that with such authority when you don't know what CE OP is using or what exactly it is doing.

I was just answering the basic question of "can you get banned for leaving it open?".

And using my own experience i said that i've not had any issues.

I am in no way giving a guarantee that you will never be banned but if you contined to read the next post, you'd know that i said it's down to the user to accept any punishment for using CE.

Omg, Nobody ever told me CE isn't a trusted software. And thanks, will surely look forward to that advice. And btw I'm not a fan of using these stuffs online ,And since I haven't started my earning so that I could afford it, I guess I wont be hooking that to CS:GO anyway. ^^

Actually cheat engine is an open source program, meaning anyone that understands programming knows exactly how it works and what it does. And it certainly does not copy itself or keep running when exit out of it.

To answer OP's question, no you will not get banned for having it installed. You may get banned for having it opened whilst on a vac server, even if it is not attached to the game in question. Just make sure you always close it before playing a game with vac.

Not all of them. Also we don't know what CE the OP is talking about.

I guess not all cheat-user know how to do coding. Also it's funny that you think that all coder's are able to understand all software, even they have the source code ;)

You think there is no way to code it?
Some source code is not based on linear programming and not that easy to retrace.
Well, maybe you are skilled enough to dot that but the majority of (cheat)users are defintily not.

I'm a newbie when it comes to programming ofcourse.. And sorry for any confusions, I am using the one we get from "www.***********.org" (You got the point I guess)

Well I'm assuming the OP is talking about the popular program called "Cheat Engine" from their official website. It's been around for many years and is open source with an active forum as well.

Of course not all cheaters know how to code :p. Yes, not all programmers can read a program easily either, but that's usually if it's messy, poorly writtten, or written in some random langauge no one uses. Cheat engine's source code is none of that though.

You can code a program that replicates itself / hides / or keeps running through other processes.
But it would be very obvious in the source code. It wouldn't be smart to make your program open source if that was your intent either.

What does linear programming have to do with this? You can't hide instructions in code, the insturctitons must be linear at compile time and run time. Both of which you can see in the source code and know what they are doing.

Better delete the link, we don't want more people to use this "services".
It does not matter what CE you used. Topic might be solved for you but maybe in the future some one reads this post and gets the wrong impression that CE software is always safe to use.
