VAC Banned on a game I never play and don't even have installed
Hi. I have a VAC ban against my account for a game that I don't even have installed on my computer. I believe it is for CS:GO which I do not own and have NEVER played. I have been told that my mobile number may have been linked to the ban. As a lawyer I'm pretty sure I didn't agree to any terms and conditions that allow me to be banned for not doing anything. So I want this fixed ASAP. Please advise accordingly.

I was playing on a public computer and got banned!
Often or not this is just a case of a Internet cafe computer having cheats installed. Never play on public PC's you don't fully control. By this I mean ONLY PLAY ON A ACCOUNT NOBODY ELSE CAN ACCESS
How do I get unbanned?
You can't unless your ban is false. Which is once in a green moon.
What happens to my items? I paid good money for them!
They will be sealed inside the account, like a bank vault. You can't do anything with them.
Can I still play VAC protected games?
Yes, on unsecure servers. To find them go to find a custom game, filters, unprotected servers.
My brother/sister/mother/farther/friend/dog cheated on my account. Can I be unbanned?
Your account is your responsibility and you will not be unbanned. It does not matter if you weren't the one doing it.
Can I get a reason or evidence to my ban?
No. because it would make hackers be able to make hacks to dodge VAC easier
I have been banned for "x" amount of days! Can I be unbanned
No
I GOT HACKED PLS UNBAN
VAC does not ban individuals, it bans accounts, therefore you will not be unbanned as your account was used to cheat.

Read that

I wonder if " as a lawyer " will be remembered like the "signed The Father " thread.

What a mess

Happy to make a smart arse comment?

Equally happy to man-up and put money on it?

Why is my citation of my status as a Lawyer inappropriate? No-one has bothered to state that other than to incorrectly confuse not reading a term with not agreeing with it.

By commenting that I am a Lawyer I was pre-empting those very same stupid comments and letting people know that (a) I am not just a whinging kid, and (b) that I am aware of the terms and conditions and am approaching them from a legal perspective.

Seems pretty logical to me. But you clowns are just humiliating yourselves in a public forum with your inane comments.

If nothing else you will be remembered for having a epic thread .

The signed the father thread is board legend and this one is heading there as well..

I dont take bets with cheaters.

Why a mod has not shut this down is interesting maybe they are amused by it as well.

Why would a lawyer agree to an SSA which is in violation to the law then?
And please state that your phone was stolen.

Ummmmm.... WTF?

If I didn't agree to the contract I couldn't use the service. But I am not God, my mere act of accepting the terms and conditions does not grant legitimacy to a term that is unenforceable at law. (I'm going to have to start charging you all for the free legal education you are all getting and letting flow right over your heads).

And no, my phone was not stolen.

According to your logic, I should be able to take a loan out from a bank, sign an agreement that states I need to pay back the money monthly, then not pay it back, saying that it's violating my right to pursue happiness by paying back the loan and refuse to do so. Point being is you have a vac ban, it's automated and support doesn't take tickets for vac bans.

Your only option is formatting your pc to remove any and all cheats that may have installed malware, reinstall your operating system, create a new steam account and purchase the game again for the account. You being a "lawyer" should be able to afford another game with no problem. Either that or go to court for it, but you know as well as the rest of us that it won't end well for you.

You have a ban, you'll have to live with the badge of shame and there is nothing that can be done.
My friend never use cheat's in CS:GO and get VAC Ban

So, you stalk your friend 24/7 and know everything he does all the time? Creepy...

If you agree to the SSA then you agree to valves rules. These are different from the average TOS. While disagreeing doesn't let you in, it's saying that you don't agree with valves rules.
Your signing to the SSA legally lets VALVE revoke your games if they believe you broke their rules
The education jab, not relevant at all, not needed. I have told you, if you feel so wronged by valve, go sue valve.
proof? you say the ban is for CSGO, click on more information next to your ban so we can see what game it says you are banned in, screen shot it and upload it to your art work. I see you do not own CSGO, so if you can actually give us this proof, who's to say you are not just another fibber on the vac forums.

Does it matter? His ban is correct
Wow, that guy really is the biggest and most elaborate troll I've ever seen. Can't believe so many of you fed him for so long :/

So the crux of the argument is that Steam's policy of banning accounts connected to cheaters through family sharing or phone linking is against the law but has not been tested yet?

I think we all agree that the SSA can't overrule a consumers rights, but what law/right is being violated by their cheat ban policy(I'm not sure where you reside)?

Great questions. I hope this thread isn't closed, because I'm hoping these can be answered. PsiClone seems to think he has the answers to them, and if everyone can put down the pitchforks and torches for a while, we may actually be able to discuss these things. That's the point of this forum, correct?

If you are correct, then what ban system do you propose they replace it with? If they can't ban linked accounts, how do they stop cheaters?

The $64,000,000,000.00 question. If there -is- a legal problem with banning linked accounts, is Valve's expedience worth giving up your own rights?

:chug:

@PsiClone: When I asked a while back if anyone had physical access to your phone, it seemed to have something click for you. You changed line from "no, never happened" to "I'm not responsible for the actions of others". Tongue in cheek: did you give your little brother/cousin/nephew a clip under the ear at Christmas dinner? ;)

Well it depends. Where do we draw consumers rights? Consumers rights can be "I get all dlc for free"
Where do we draw the line? And what link does it have? The VAC system is a whole other conversation to ask wether it breaks any law.
That's what you might think

Valve is legally sound to use VAC and not be sued. This is because when you signed the SSA, you let that happen.
This has certainly made for a more interesting and...well...intelligent thread than 99% of the others. A long one too
Hey man don't care about those idiots just try contacting Vac team and explain to them your problem from here : vacreview@valvesoftware.com spam them if you must
