VAC and Mods to Single player games
I mainly play single player games, no LAN or multiplayer. As such I have modded games like Crusader Kings and Hearts of Iron.

I bought Boarder Lands 2 a while back and was interested in using the multiplayer function, but just noticed today that steam has VAC and what it is. Boarder Lands is not modded or changed in any way.

I do have items like Cheat Engine installed on my system, but on a different physical drive then my steam install or any steam library, and it is not on my C drive.

Would the modded CKII games or having Cheat Engine installed, even if it is just a registry entry, trigger VAC for a game like Boarder Lands 2 or CODII: Black ops?

Now obviously I would not have cheat engine (or other programs of such) running when I would be playing the multiplayer games.

Borderlands 2 is not VAC secured.
Just having CE installed will not trigger VAC on other games. You would need to actually inject CE into the game for it to be triggered.

Ah, great, thanks for the prompt answer :) I read the steam site, but needed some clarification.

If you want to know whether or not a game has VAC you can go to the store page. The info box on the right next to price and whatnot will have it listed as Valve Anti-Cheat Enabled if it is.
