VAC Cheat Bounty?
Would it be possible for Valve to pay people to find/buy private cheats and reverse engineer them and add them to the VAC blacklist? I've noticed Valve is pretty short on employees and enlisting the help of the community could make things more efficient.

Exactly. Cheat distributors would be hesitant to give their code to anyone, and they would run out of business. It would stop more people from buying them and make the distributor move somewhere else.
You misunderstood. Greedy bastards would make the cheat developers get better at hiding their traces.

What? Cheat developers don't give their code out, that would just allow anyone else to release that same cheat and prevent the original creator making money. When you pay for cheats, you don't pay for the code and then assemble the cheat yourself... (in the majority of cases anyway).

I meant the cheat, not the code, my bad. Running on 4 hours of sleep and coffee. Anyway, my point still stands; if you can't trust the buyer to not sell you out, it'd be safer to not sell the cheat in the first place. Or, as Laberbacke pointed out, get better at hiding it. Not sure what that entails, but the first seems like a fix that may have potential. I'm not even saying Valve has to actually pay people, just the prospect that people looking to buy cheats could be trying to sell the developer out may scare the developer away.
I am no expert and my understanding may be off here, but from what I gather you don't actually gain access to the cheat files in the first place. Most big cheating websites give you access to a loader, this is essentially a launcher for cheats. You login and select which game you wish to cheat in and the loader will then inject the cheat straight from the cheat developers server into the game. As a user, you don't actually gain access to the cheat file itself. The loader acts as a middleman that handles the download and injection of the cheat for you.

It's mainly free/public cheats where you would download the entire binary and maybe any associated files.

Ah, I did not know that. Is it even possible to detect those cheats and not just the loader? I don't understand the actual code behind the cheat and how it bypasses VAC.

The loader would most likely close itself once the game has loaded and the cheat has been injected. There is no need for it to stay open once it has done its intended job.

A notorious private cheat for TF2 was detected last year after being undetected for a very long time. This was only possible because the code for that cheat was found online by somebody who sent it to Valve. Had that code not been discovered, the cheat might still be undetected today.
Я честно говоря не знаю куда именно писать но ваша VAC система меня уже достала честно говоря. Каждый раз перед игрой нужна пройтись по вашей той писанине с терминалом что-бы он у меня заработал. И это при том что у меня на компе кроме вашего STEAM установлена всего одна игра Lineage 2 и то в нее никто не играет. Скажите в чем проблема? меня это уже начинает напрягать в чем именно недостаток?????????????????:steamsad::steamsad:

Damn, lucky break I guess. Do you know how the cheats actually work? What they modify, how they stay undetected, etc.?
No. We stay away from that stuff.

Not enough to give you a proper in-depth answer. All I know is that VAC bans for known cheat signatures. So something within the cheat, be it the structure of the code or the way in which it injects itself must be known to VAC before it can identify your account as using a known cheat.

Like I said I am no expert so take what I say with a grain of salt. Someone else may be able to explain it better.

How do you stay away from talking about cheats in a forum called Valve Anti Cheat Discussion? If I wanted to figure out how to make them I wouldn't ask here, just trying to understand the topic better so I don't go around spreading misinformation.

the primary purpose of this forum is to help people who are having a Vac Error, which causes them to get disconnected from a VAC secured game. Those can take time and sometimes you need a 2nd or 3rd set of eyes (or brains) to help figure out what is blocking you.

The 2nd purpose of this forum is to keep all the "UNBAN ME!!!" threads in one place, otherwise the other forums would a wasteland and even more toxic.
