Overwatch is a Jury trial, and they found you guilty.
VAC scans for Known cheats, then flags the account for a later time to be BANNed.
If you get convicted by overwatch, the VAC ban will then be applied 24 hours later if it had already detected cheats being used before the overwatch conviction.
Edit : You do not get unbanned by asking. Only false bans are removed by the system at a later time.
