Windows Phone 8 has been out for roughly 3 years, so I doubt Valve are suddenly going to release an app in the next few days sadly. Looks like Valve doesn't care about Steam customers who are Windows Phone users.. :sad_creep:
Fair enough. I suggest all Windows Phone users simply stop spending money with Valve until they relax their OS apartheid. They've had the last look at my wallet, that's for sure.

That's the only way Valve are going to listen. I've also refused to spend another penny in the Steam Store, and I'll hold to that until they change course.

Usually we could rely on the games press to make a stink eventually, but I haven't seen one outlet cover this particular controversy. Apparently nobody else but Windows phone users give a ♥♥♥♥.

It has been two months since this thread was created, and we have seen nothing. Here's my suggestion:

Whatever Steam-related sites you go to, link this discussion. We need to get the word out to other users with WP so they can vote in here as well.
I already tipped Windows Central[www.windowscentral.com] off on this with a comment from Valve on support for Windows Phone (not happening any time soon).

EDIT: The comment I linked is here.

Hello guys, I've started a petition on change.org about this and I hope it will bring us something in the future (it will not, but we can hope xD).

https://www.change.org/p/steam-app-or-at-least-the-authenticator-for-windows-phone-to-valve-corporation-gabe-newell-doug-lombardi

Share to your friends, on the communities, to your friends and WP users, of course! :D
We Should keep this on all pages so all sees.
Hope this will work :)
Keep signing, guys!
I've tried contacting the thread author but he still didn't accept the friendship. It could be useful linking the petition in the OP!

I ran across this article today.

"Somebody on the call asked about what is perceived as a lack of important apps for Windows Phone. CEO Satya Nadella responded that the company plans to allow developers to write apps that run across PCs, phones and tablets. Ballmer’s response, according to Bass, was unadorned:

’That won’t work,’ Ballmer commented as Nadella spoke. Instead, the company needs to enable Windows Phones ‘to run Android apps,’ he said."

As said before. Valve is sitting on their hands waiting on others to do their work.

I find that article rather bad for two reasons. First: Windows Phone is already the third player, since Blackberry and "Others" are practically dead and have marketshares around 0% worldwide lately, while Windows Phone has solid 10% in most countries, only in eastern Asia and the US they are below 5%. In Italy and Russia for example they have even outrun iOS. Second: The article is not very informative, rather misleading, about what is going on.
They worked already on emulating Android apps, but apparently they discarded it for the time being. But they also run a project that is supposed to make the porting of iOS apps extremly easy, plus apps for Win10 will be universal, i.e. an app for Win10 will run on smartphones, tablets as well as desktop-pc. These factors will hopefully be an incentive for developers to close the Win Phone app-gap with their ports. Maybe that's even the reason why we don't have a Steam app for Windows yet. Hopefully Gaben is just waiting for Project Islandwood and Win10. Most Lumias get a free update to Win10 on December 14th btw. This article sums it up pretty well: http://www.windowscentral.com/microsofts-project-astoria-delayed

Another thing is that Steve Ballmer is not a genius. xD
It can be a good thing emulating Android apps, but it can only be a temporary strategy. It could help but only if they don't rely so much on it: in the future there may be major incompatibilities that may damage Windows Phone very much (IMHO).
But it can be useful to spur developers to make apps on WP too while users would receive many apps WP still doesn't have.

i really hope we're wrong about gabe, and that he has the wisdom to realize he's alienating a significant portion of the market with his anti windows position.
make it, windows phone is the future.
Hope they will change their point of view soon and release the app for WinPhone
