Chat doesn't update

For some reason the friends chat doesn't update for me. I get a message and it comes up on my lock screen, but when I actually open the app - it doesn't show that anybody has messaged me. Really annoying, as this is the only reason I downloaded the app essentially.

It used to work, but now for some reason does not.

I am having the same experince. May I ask what phone you are using? My old andriod use to update no matter what, while the iPhone does not.

I think it might be the iOS that has that issue. It does it on the iPod Touch too. It works perfectly fine on my mother's Android, though. It might be a problem that Valve just doesn't feel like fixing since this problem has existed ever since the app first came out. Very frustrating.

This problem is extremely annoying. Valve needs to get on the ball with this. They have a potentially amazing app on their hands.

I loved the Steam app until I figured this bug out. I'm not going to leave the app open all the time and if I hear my iPod chime in my pocket saying I have a new message, I want to see who it was and what they said! Not ask every friend if they chatted me and, if so, resend it!

I'm using an iPhone fyi. Seems i'm not the only one having problems with this then :/ I leave the app open all the time, on my top 4 as well - but it still doesn't work. I'm not leaving my phone constantly on the interent updating itself every 5 minutes as the battery already isn't great with me using it for music etc.

Another problem on iPhone's Steam Mobile is the friend status that only shows ONLINE or the game that your friend are playing. On Android version it shows all the status (AWAY, BUSY, that things).

Oh, really? I never knew that! That pisses me off! I thought that Android had only Online, In-Game, and Offline for friends statuses too! Just shows that Valve did a half-assed job on the iOS version!

I wouldn't blame valve so much. I think Apple has a wild management of third-party addons. Similar to why it takes so long for patches to go through on console games vs PC games.

Marvi, ues it is. Also yeah it's partly due to Apple, but lets just hope Valve is working on fixing the app in the next update

its soo ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoyiong because you have to wait forever until the text comes through and most times it doesnt.. the app is pretty crap. needs a better update system
