You cannot change your login name, nor your SteamID

You cannot change you login ID as Satoru said, but you can change your Profile Name. Nobody, except you, will see you login ID, so why change it? If it's too hard to remeber, just make a note of it somewhere. To change your Profile Name, the name everyone sees is pretty easy to do.

Steam --> Settings --> Friends

You'll see the option box next to your avatar image.

Go to your profile, click "Edit My profile" and go down to "custom URL", put some shiz in there, and your id changes.

That's not your steam id.

you can change your login name by creating a new account then using the same email address and selecting create new account i think by doing that you get a new steam id as well just check {ลิงก์ถูกลบแล้ว}http://steamid.co/ if it does. Go to your steam profile and copy that link in the top left side and paste it in the site i gave into the first bar you see .Not so sure if steam is fine with a user doing this but I've done it a few times where i lost my password and wanted to use my old email and i had to do this. This is an old post though haha, was searching how to change my steam id in MLG account so hope it helped :)

This doesn't change anything about the existing account. This is, as you said, creating a new account.
