Questions concerning multiplayer.
I am relatively new to steam. I set my account up a couple years ago for one game, never played it online, just solo. BUT recently my son asked me to buy him a couple games. He is 11, so I wanted to regulate what he could do...thinking I would just let him use my account since I did not...so I have bought him several games, mostly not multiplayer or splitscreen. BUT he wants to add a game that does support that. I would love to create a new account for us and move his games to his new account or similar. I doubt this will be possible...because steam. BUT what about keeping only one account and playing games that support multi player on one PC? OR what is this remote play I am reading about? Do both PCs need a copy of these games?

I guess I am just a little lost.
Not what I am use to...advice welcome. TY

Remote play is mp through split screen shared to more PCs or to play through mobile steam link. If you want to remote mp, you need controller (Xbox, playstation etc.) and you both have to own the game and can't be played on 2 PCs with 1 account, you can play just on 1 instance in same time.
Games can't be transfered between 2 accounts.

That is not what I understood. "Remote Play Together" ready games can be owned by one person and other people who do not own it can join you. That is not just what I understand but also exactly the wording used on Steam's own explanation of what this type of game play can do.

It states in no uncertain terms. Play the game from the account that owns it and invite additional players to join your game even if they DO NOT OWN it.

I bought this game for him and it is o this account. No Man's Sky.

I created a second account for myself, to join him. AND he sent me a friend request, I accepted from the new account. Then he sends me a Invite to Join game, but that invite when I go to accept it fails and says Request - Failed, the user jumpsteady...will need to be logged into this PC to enable family sharing. Which is not at all what I am trying to do.

I am quite literally confused...and steam offers NO support. I have tried several times to reach someone, all I get is bounce backs and "ask the community". A multi billion dollar company and they cannot give guidance on relatively new software ability. I am livid.
