Two Accounts, One Android Phone

Hello, I have two Steam accounts. This is my alt account. I tried to input my Android phone's number into this account, but was told that it was already in use (by my main account, presumably), and that using this number here, on the Kane Adamson account, would remove it from my main.

Is there no way to use the same number for two or more accounts? The IP logs should show that Kane Adamson and my main account are used by the same person. Going even further, both Kane and my main have the same writing style, play style, and the exact same avatar. We even play the exact same games.

I created this account earlier this year to test several F2P games: TF2, DotA 2, and Path of Exile. All three games let me play the full game as an F2P player, so I saw no point in remaining F2P and became premium in all three games.

Another reason why I created this account is because my old DotA 2 account was shared between me and my cousin. He's not very good at DotA 2, which means that when he plays, our MMR tanks and he gets stomped, while when I play, I stomp the enemy and gain back the MMR lost. He has since created his own account, but by then, I had already established the Kane Adamson account for DotA 2.

If I can't use the same phone number for Steam Mobile Authenticator, can I at least merge these two Steam accounts? Is that even possible?

You cannot merge Steam accounts nor can you transfer games that are in the library to a different account.

You can add the same phone number to multiple accounts and use Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator for multiple accounts. The only-one-account-per-phone number rule was changed.

Can I share my phone number between multiple accounts?

Yes. You may use the same phone number on multiple accounts. You may enable Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator on multiple accounts on the same phone by logging in to each account within the app and following the procedure to enable the authenticator on each account. The app will provide codes for all accounts regardless of which account is currently logged in to the app. Accounts with the same phone number may be treated as the same identity with respect to the Steam Subscriber Agreement, policies, or restrictions.

So now you may use your phone for both of your acounts.

I started doing this over a week ago, when I discovered that logging into the Steam app with a different account doesn't remove the authenticator from your first account. I can access the code for either of my accounts on my phone.

However, when trading, I need to log into the right account so I can access its confirmation tab. Not sure why I can't just remain logged in to both accounts at the same time, but I guess Valve doesn't want to make it too easy to bypass their system.

I looked over the currently available information and cross-referenced it with several sources to narrow down the number of possible issues and I believe I have with a fair amount of accuracy determined that the problem is you're an idiot.

For all the bettors out there who bet with multiple accounts and still wondering if you can continue doing so with the trade hold that is coming soon. You can with a single phone.
All you need to do is to log into the Steam app on every account, link it to the same mobile number and verify it. After which you have the Steam guard mobile code for all the accounts you linked. Just swipe the box where the code is, and you can see the Steam guard codes for all the accounts you linked with the same mobile number/Steam app.
