Caught in a Catch 22

So I have an iPhone 6 with the mobile app on it, and I've set up the authenticator. The authenticator works just fine if I'm, say, logging into my account on a PC. However, sometimes the iOS application itself will ask me to log in, and when I attempt to do so, it will prompt me for a code that never comes to the phone. Oddly enough, even when in this state, the phone will still receive codes and display them as alerts when logging in on a PC. Seems like a major bug, to ask for an authentication code when trying to log into the device that receives the authentication codes in the first place. Any advice?
