[bug report] On Android, payment link opens in Chrome instead of default browser (Firefox)

Hello! This is a pretty specific bug report, if there is a better place for it, please point me that way, I wasn't able to find a bug tracker.


I have been observing the issue for quite some time, so I believe it is not specific to Steam app or Android version. Currently I have Android 13 on Sony 1 III and latest Steam app from Google play.

Observed behavior: I have Firefox as my default browser on the mobile, however when I pay with iDEAL (Dutch online payment system), the link is opened in Chrome instead of Firefox. Other apps, e.g. Uber Eats correctly open payment link in Firefox. I am pretty sure the issue affects other payment systems as well, but I can't test it.

Expected behavior: payment link is opened in the default browser or in bank app directly.

If you disable Chrome entirely, as I did because this was getting annoying, links like these will not open at all. Weird that it is tied to Chrome.

I cant even make purchases at all it just reloads the log in for Paypal and wipes what I put every time
