The old one is now obsolete.

probably talking about the old app version that stopped working as of last night/this morning for me as well and is now forcing to update to the new version, which I hate as well. Probably going to remove it as well as mobile authenticator entirely since I lost chat function with this app and the QR code scanner has no use for me. I don't even understand what it's supposed to be for

I can bet that new Steam Android app is just intern work. There is simply no other logical explanation for how bad and terrible is.

If security wasn't a concern I assure you no one would be using these new products

or they would. I cannot understand people these days.


I guess I'll either use a string password or rely on email codes and just remove myself from the market and levelling up my account. Less of a hassle.

I concur. The new app is hot garbage. The old one was perfectly fine.
At this point I would pay money for a simple authenticator app that just lets me manage logins and trading. One that doesn't lag or freeze constantly.

chat is broken in the new app update - the old update used to scroll madly about, the last updates crash chat if you type more than a few lines of text into the chat box on Android. Basically the freeze problem people are reporting.

Some people say this doesnt happen on android 14
but it does happen on older versions, thats for sure. and I aint buying a new phone for steam
