PayPal broken in Android app

Issue never happened in old app. MFA enabled.

Sorry Steam, no money for you today.

Same issue.

Reported to Support. The response was basically "don't use the app, use Edge" (seemingly suggesting the desktop app is also cactus).

It's 2023, have Steam not heard of customer service? I swear the people on the support ticket have a bunch of canned responses, nothing to acknowledge or try to fix the issue.

It sounds like they need more training, but good chance support agents are just bots anyway. I gave up on buying games with app, didn't realise it was still an issue.

I had the EXACTLY same response:

Please attempt your purchase again using a web browser instead of the Steam client. If possible, please use Microsoft Edge or Firefox to complete this transaction.

I told I was using android steam app...

Probably bot or copy&paste response. Not impressed.

Not a good look. It means less money for Valve. It did actually work once upon a time.

Probably a good thing in the way that it stops impulse purchase. If I attempt to buy on app and it fails, I just give up. Haven't tried for some time, next time I buy a Steam game I'll try using App and PayPal and see what happens.

Same here. PayPal looping on entering email/phone and with card nothing pops-up when clicking "Authorise Purchase" button.

No issues if I buy from Chrome or any other browser on my phone (same card/bank).

It's a strange one. I was thinking it had something to do with PayPal subscription but if this was the case it wouldn't work on Desktop computer or phone browser.

Doesn't look like Valve is too interested in our money. If an impulse buy doesn't go ahead I move on and forget about it.

Holy crap, I wrote OP in mid Jan 2023 and it's still an issue for some users. Surely this would translate to lost sales revenue. ... but oh well!

I've actually deleted the Steam app and resorted to using a browser. The app is absolute garbage.

It used to be better. I think splitting main app and chat wasn't a good idea. That aside, surprised that they let PayPal functionality slip through the cracks.

Get the old version from the app (2.3.13) from those certain sites that have to do something with mirror or pure.

I used PayPal recently with that version and didn't had any issue. Worth a try.
