does deleting cache on any other app that requires logging remove login state? u can try with whatever app u have that doesn't pose a risk.
I wouldn't be surprised that deleting cache just removed cache, aka, not vital app data.
If Steam Support isn't responding within a week, I'll just have to do this, I suppose, and hope that it will actually solve my problem.
if you decide resetting the app, yeah, it will count as actually a new device. u ought to deactivate steam guard mobile authentication before you do that, as you don't want to run into a state of deactivated app but enabled steam guard, which will put u in a rather bad spot, and may result in a support call.
in any case, this is all another typical Android case. Java was never a great programming language, and Android is a pure example how crappy it can get.
I just went to where the option is supposed to be (Steam Guard -> Below the code), but it's just empty (except the code is).
So I decided the check other menu options.
- Steam Guard: Only the code and my loginname is being displayed.
- Confirmations: White screen
- Chat: "Chat is offline"
- Notifications > New comments: Access Denied
- Notifications > New gifts: Access Denied
- Shop > Account details: Communication-Error to Steam-Servers
- Community > Market: Says I have no active offers, and that I should log in
- Library: empty (just the blue background)
- Support: Communication-Error to Steam-Servers
So it seems, that the mobile app is acting, like i am not logged in. That explains everything actually.What happens, if I choose to Sign out?
did u try restarting the phone? if that doesn't help, and you have no other phone to add to ur account's steam guard, so u could try this sign out thingy, while still having functional guard codes to add a new phone and then actually use new phone codes to resign into this one, in case it asks for them, i would suggest that you simply remove the authenticator from ur account using steam client if nothing else works [in hope u still have the revocation code for this process] and then reset the app.
please do tell what u eventually come up doing and how it went. this feedback is precious to other users, as u can imagine.
I was surprised, that the codes are still being generated, even logged off. While logging in, a code hasn't been requested anyway.
