How to change phone number using textnow.com?
My phone number has recently been changed due to being inactive on TextNow. I can now no longer receive the SMS to remove it. I even tried contacting the support on TextNow, but they didn't seem to help any. Is there any way to change phone number without SMS or a service provider?

Contact Steam Support for help.

Help, I lost (or sold) my phone and can't log in! What do I do?
If possible, you should contact your wireless service provider and get a replacement phone with the same phone number. Steam will be able to send SMS messages to your replacement phone, and you will be able to recover your account as described below.

If you no longer have access to your phone and don't have your recovery code, you'll need the assistance of Steam Support. Use the "Contact Steam Support" button at the top right of this page to get help removing your authenticator. If you don’t have access to the email address that is currently associated with your Steam Account please provide proof of account ownership within your ticket.

How do I remove the phone number from my account?
Log into the store in a browser, then:
Go to your Account details (viewable under your account name, near the top of the web page).
Click on Manage your phone.
Click on Remove phone.
You can remove the phone by typing in the current code from your Authenticator, or by sending your phone an SMS code. Choose one of these options and follow the instructions.

I'm getting a new phone soon. What do I need to do?
If you have two factor authentication enabled on your old phone, you should:
Disable the authenticator (go to the Steam Guard menu and choose a different Steam Guard method)
Log out of your account (go to the Log Out menu on iOS, or go to Settings / Log Out on the Android app).
Before you sell or give your phone away, we recommend doing a factory reset on it and removing personal information.

Do not use free SMS websites for Steam Guard. Use a real phone. This is your responsibility.

Good point. Those SMS web sites can result in a VAC ban.

That's Ridiculous! How are people with unlocked phones and using apps like TextNow supposed to get steam guard? Not everyone is made of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ money and can afford a phone with a plan!

No I don't, I'm 24 living with my parents and they pay the internet bill if I take care of the dishes. Not that that matters.

You don't need a plan, you can use a prepaid SIM card as well. As for "unlocked phones", absolutely no problem here. As I said, just use a prepaid SIM.

So what I did was use my mother's phone number and had her text me the activation code. But then I remembered that my password is a 24 character combination of capital and lower-case letters, numbers, and symbols. So basically two-step verification is only effective if I'm not changing it to a new "Strong" password every ten days. So I removed the two-step and my mother's phone-number.
And Pre-paid sim-cards are only as useful as you keep buying service for them. After about two-months if you haven't bought additional minutes you loose your stored minutes and your phone-number is recycled. It may be different for different cards but if your cheep-phone breaks you can't access your account because you can't recieve your text to confirm it's removal.

Passewords ALONE aren't as powerful, as you think.

It takes about a week to brute-force a 8 character password in mixed case, but in the case of my passwords it would take x1.5 that because I added symbols and numbers. Besides, Steam sends me an email before allowing me to log into a new computer and notes the IP address of the offender.
I know the importance of having a complex password and changing it regularly.
