HELP! Can't see friend's chat responses on Wifi (Nexus 5, Android 4.4)
Hello all,

I have a problem with Steam mobile app chat on my Google Nexus 5 which runs Android 4.4 Kitkat: I can't see my friend's responses whenever I'm connected to wifi. The chat window shows my text, but when my friends enter their text, a red bar which says "Connecting" flashes above the chat box, but their response doesn't appear. Logged onto steam on my laptop at the same time, I can see friends' responses just fine. If I use 4G/LTE on my phone, then I can see responses. I never had this problem with my old Galaxy Samsung S3 which was running an older version of Android.

My wifi works fine; I recently changed my cable modem, but I receive 4 bars all the time on my laptop. However, the reception is noticeably spotty on my phone so I'm not sure if that is a factor. I have also uninstalled, restarted, and reinstalled the app, but to no avail.

Given that the Nexus 5 cannot receive freakin' MMS pictures via SMS on wifi, does anyone know if this is an issue with the Nexus 5, Android 4.4, or my wifi?

I have a screen shot if anyone doesn't know what the red "Connecting" bar looks like. Props to anyone who can help! :ss2heart:

Maybe restart phone?
I restart my phone weekly, so unfortunately that doesn't help me too much.
I'm running Steam mobile on Nexus 5 with android 4.4.4 and I have very similar problems. I receive my friends responses but they have over 3 minutes delay and after awhile their original message(s) come again for the second time, then for the third and so on and so on... If I send them a message it goes through to them instantly. My problems aren't narrowed to WLAN since I have them over mobile connection too. Currently using Steam mobile is impossible due to this problem and honestly I don't know whether this problem is in the device or in the application. If anyone has any insight to this issue I too would greatly appreciate it if any productive ideas would be shared! Personally I have tried everything from reinstalling the application to going through its settings but those actions haven't brought any improvement to the issue.
Hello samitainio, the issue actually got resolved on my phone around the same time Nexus 5 got the update to send MMS\images over wifi. Not sure if the function is somehow related. Good luck!
