Scan a Steam QR code to sign in as
What does that even mean?
Opened Steam mobile app to find a downgraded, clunky UI with a big QR code in the middle, saying this "scan a steam qr code to sign in as"

What does it mean to be "signed in as a qr code?"

What could I possibly ever need a qr code for?

Why isn't there any kind of tooltip or explanation in the app?

Couldn't it have been mentioned in the annoying slideshow of new features that I had to climb over to login to the app?

Can I just disregard this or is it going to be like when SteamGuard was added, where suddenly everything on Steam will be locked behind agreeing to make use of this minor annoyance?

It always (unfortunately) defaults to the scanner but you can switch it to show codes instead.
