SMS code not receiving
So I had a phone and I sold it to get a new phone. When I installed steam mobile and steam app it doesn’t send me an sms for the steam guard so I used my recovery code to remove my mobile number and add it again. And then when it asks me to enter the verification code we sent you, no code actually comes. Please HELP

If you are unable to receive SMS messages from Steam, check with your wireless provider that your wireless account is allowed to receive them. Our text messages can come from a 6 digit phone number, please ensure that your provider supports this. Steam will also stop sending SMS messages if too many have been sent to you, so waiting a few minutes to an hour may allow messages to come through again. You should also check to make sure that your phone's inbox is not full.

We are unable to accept new VOIP phone numbers on Steam due to them not meeting our security requirements. If your phone number is blocked because it's considered VOIP you will need to find a mobile or prepaid phone number to use on Steam. Select carriers use VOIP technology in their cellular plans and we are unable to support these. Our system will notify you when you enter your phone number if we consider it to be a VOIP number.

did all that, nothing this is complete bs
i also cant receive the text. been trying on and off for 2 weeks now. its ridiculous that one of the tasks for the ambassador badge is to use the authenticator but the codes dont work. i got no warning about my phone number being the incorrect type it just says it is sent but doesnt ever come through. i am receiving all other texts just fine including from other 6 digit numbers belonging to companies. it is just the steam one that doesnt work. and they make it impossible to speak to someone about it. why do they not add a button for people who are visually impaired to receieve a call with the code like other companies do? this would then work for both reasons, visually impaired people and people who the code system is broken for.
2018 year... now it's 2021, and it still occurs... STEAM!

Great my trade and steam market is off because i can't add Guard on my new phone... I got few SMS when delete my number and add again but still not code about Steam Guard

-removed phone number
-reinstall steam app on phone
- login and then add Steam Guard and again phone number.

This did nothing for me. Deleted phone number and app. Reinstalled and went through the whole process again. Still no verification code sent to my phone. I reseve sms-verifications from one miljon companies but not from STEAM. What a joke.
Please add the call option ffs.

This work exactly! Remove phone, remove authenticator, add them back, all good! You the man!
(YEAR 2023) IF YOU ARE FROM SINGAPORE, JUST UNBLOCK THE "LIKELY-SPAM" MARKED SMSs WHICH YOU MIGHT HAVE BLOCKED AFTER RECENT SMS SPAM PROTECTION INTRODUCED BY GOVERNMENT.

This happened to me in SINGAPORE (early 2023). And the issue was that Singapore Government recently introduced the SMS SPAM/PHISHING FILTER in the country which was forced to be implemented by all the TELCOS in the country. Afterwards, SMSs from all the "unregistered businesses" will be marked (or automatically appear) as "LIKELY-SPAM" upon receiving.

Since that was introduced, I BLOCKED all those "LIKELY-SPAM" marked SMSs in my phone. (Because I thought those were UNNEEDED at that point) Those were in my BLOCKED list. Only after I swapped my SIMCARD into old 2G handset (just to try my luck), I suddenly received the STEAM SMSs and that's where I realized it was because I blocked the "LIKELY-SPAM" marked SMSs in my new handset.

Its the reason I dont have the steam shield enabled, dont know how the sms text thing works, but I cant receive mine when I try it with government stuff and is always a big hassle, Im not sure what causes it. Seems you got it to work, might try and get mine working, as enabling steam shield is part of the community badge
