DOS games on Android?

I am going away on a trip and during the travel I may not have enough peace to read so I thought I might want to play a game instead. Across the country by train takes some time.

I know Steam Link would work if I had access to my home network, but that's not going to work for me. Then I thought maybe older, DOS based games work using DOSbox or ScummVM.

Has anyone tried to use Steam games on Android using DOSbox or ScummVM?

Games like old point & clicks (Police Quest, Space Quest, Indiana Jones and Fate of Atlantis) should run on Android with no problems, specs-wise.

If anyone has tried, is it easy as copy the game folder from PC to Android and add it to ScummVM or does it require some extra tricks? Do they work?

And I suppose it is legal since it is technically running on PC VM and I have paid for the game. Obviously my actual computer is off during the time so I can't see any licensing issues there.

Would be nice if its legit using VPN for this situations.i think any solution with vm would be horrible at phone/tablet...

That would be nice. To see some our low level performance games playable on steam app as steam games.

Any low power device in your network for vpn? If yes you can turn it on with wol and turn it off with a simple command

The network is not going to be constant as the train will be moving. And DB has horrible in-train wifi. Looking to play offline games. I should just try if I can simply copy the game files from my PC and add them to ScummVM or DOSbox. Have to just check which ones use DOSbox.

most of the games would not work because of steam drm some might, i would just download the non steam versions of these games and play them using dos-box or scummvm you can find them very easy, and most of them are free to download anyway also if you do own them you are a allowed a copy to play, like music or movies.

Hate to necro this post, but it's 2023 and I got Dungeon Keeper to run via Magic DosBox on both a Galaxy Tab S6 and Retroid Pocket Flip, with varying degrees of success (I'm currently trying to figure out my sound issues). Performance is a solid 30FPS otherwise, perfectly playable by my standards (c'mon, these games were released in the 80s and 90s).

Unfortunately, you will need a GOG account, and you will have to rebuy whatever games you plan to play through GOG. Due to the way Steam DRM works, I wasn't able to rip the files from my drive and have them play on my tatabletIf only Steam were that generous, I wouldn't mind buying all my old games here... but even then, some games on Steam require files from the GOG version to function AT ALL (Septera Core being one, Soul Reaver might as well be another).

Addendum: GOG is now but one way to do it, as I just extracted System Shock One from Steam and have it functioning, without sound, on the Galaxy Tab S6, too!!

Step 1: Install the game to a PC you have Steam signed-in on.
Step 2: Gear > Manage > Properties > Browse. It should open up File Explorer, and plop you in to the game's install folder.
Step 3: Make a copy of every folder, save dosbox_windows. Copy this copy to the device of which you'll be playing on.
Step 4: Set the game up in Magic DosBox, and run it to be sure it plays.
