Help!! I have not a clue about Steam and how it works I bought Garrys Mod for my son and can’t figure out how to play

so, at first, you bought it on steam? If yes, then download steam and login with account, where you bought it and then in inventory just download it. If you bought it anywhere out of steam, just activate code you get on steam under + you select activate product on steam

I bought on steam and downloaded app on phone IOS and on my laptop went inventory in phone and don’t have download option gonna try laptop

You cannot download or play games on mobile. To play through mobile, you have just one option: download it on laptop and on your iOS try find Steam link app and play with it on your iPhone

I don't know if it is on iOS app store, on Android it is available on Google Play

But normal way it isn't available to play normal on phone (Android or iOS).

Steam and Garry's Mod require a PC. Not a mobile device.
You must use a computer with either Windows, Mac OS X or Linux.
iOS is not supported. iOS devices can not run Steamgames due to their different hardware architecture.

you cant directly play steam games on mobile.
try downloading it on a computer and it should work

You could by direct play through steam link which will share computer monitor to your mobile device. But game must be started on computer.

That is not direct play. Direct means running the game on the same device that it is played on.
Streaming from another device is anything but direct.
