Steam Push Notifications

Can someone explain to me what these are exactly? I only want to use the Steam app, so that I notice when friends send me a message.

However, Im only using this at home with a wireless connection, so : I dont want any mobile data usage (and costs)

The in-app description isnt quite clear on what I does as far as I am concerned, so I dont know whether to activate Push Notifications or not.

They are there to inform you about messages, sales and special announcements - this is as simple as it sounds.

You can choose to display when a wishlist item is on sale - you'll get a notification on your phone by the app.

The other option is about the chat - where you can choose to display messages once the app was recently used.

It shouldn't use up a lot of mobile data - you can always check by monitoring it on your phone within your delegated settings for data usage management.

I completely disabled mobile data usage on my phone, hence I dont want the push notifications to display when im not in my home network. That is basically my concern.

Wont the app notify me about messages sent by friends if I turn push notifications off?

Are these (esp. announcements) browsable? I'd imagine a list like "News" one.

There are options within the push notification settings; there you can choose whether you get notified or not.

I am not sure if these settings are different in the IOS - but in Android, below the push notifications tab; you have multiple options.

Once you enable the very last option, you'll get notified... The option is;

Notify me about any new unread chat messages.
