No notifications in Android after moving my mobile authenticator to a new phone :(
I transferred a mobile authenticator to my new phone (Android 7 Nougat). My previous phone has been giving me notifications (with a code) every time I tried to log on Steam - it's been quite convenient. My present phone does not notify me, so I have to enter the Steam app, pick Steam Guard, and wait for the code. Is there any way to bring the notifications back?

How did you "transfer" the mobile app?

Can I transfer my authenticator to my new phone?

Yes, you can.

To transfer your authenticator to a new phone, you'll need access to the phone number associated with your account (so we can send you a text message to confirm it's you).

From the Steam Mobile app on your new device, try to log into your account. When the app asks for your authenticator code, select "Please help, I no longer have access to my Mobile Authenticator codes." Follow the steps the app provides and you can either transfer your authenticator to the new device or remove it from the previous device.

I'm getting a new phone soon. What do I need to do?

If you're keeping your phone number, then you don't need to do anything in advance to prepare. Once you get your new phone, you can transfer your authenticator to the new phone using the steps in the answer for the previous question above.

If you have two factor authentication enabled, and you will also lose access to your old phone number, then you should:

Disable the authenticator (go to the Steam Guard menu and select "Remove Authenticator"). Note that doing this will prevent you from trading or using the Community Market for 15 days. It is recommended that you transfer the authenticator instead whenever possible.

Log out of your account (go to the Log Out menu on iOS, or go to Settings / Log Out on the Android app).

Before you sell or give your phone away, we recommend doing a factory reset on it and removing personal information.

Yes, by "transferred" I meant I had followed this:

I didn't change my number, and the instructions above worked well for me, the only problem is that my notifications are gone.

Not sure what you mean. I logged out on the other (old) phone and disconnected it from the Internet.

There seems to be no option "checked" on https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage, but if by options you mean buttons, there are 3 for me, they are:

Remove Authenticator
Get Backup Codes
Deauthorize all other devices

The only relevant seems to be "Remove Authenticator", but I dont want to use it, because (quote from instructions above): "Note that doing this will prevent you from trading or using the Community Market for 15 days. It is recommended that you transfer the authenticator instead whenever possible." (I underlined "instead").

EDIT: I connected the old phone to the Internet again and deinstalled Steam application, but it didnt help :(

I'm experiencing the same thing. My older phone (Galaxy Grand Prime) received push notifications like it's supposed to.

My new phone (Galaxy S6), after "transferring" my authenticator over, no longer receives push notifications. (Same phone number, instructions from Steam on how to transfer were followed.)

So every time I log in to Steam I have to launch the program instead of just reading the notification and clearing it. Very annoying.

Same thing applies if I try selling something on the market.

Okay, weird.. but after posting here, I'm getting notifications as I should be.

The only thing.. different..? I did was turn on the old phone, disconnect it from the wifi, and turn it back off.

No idea how that could have affected anything considering Steam has been uninstalled on that phone for months now.

But.. I won't argue with it.

Thanks for your feedback! Unfortunately for me this didn't work (tried this at once). But at least you gave me hope that after several months maybe my notifications will come back, lol.

I'm honestly not sure what did it.. I just turned that old phone on one last time to make sure Steam wasn't on it, and I noticed it was connected to my wifi, so I disconnected it, fiddled with it for a minute (some other apps auto-updated since it was on the wifi), then turned it off.

Logged in to Steam this morning, went to launch the app on the new phone and noticed the notification from Steam up top along with a youtube notification.. I didn't do anything with the app or the phone's settings on the newer phone, so I have no idea what happened.

Edit: I did put an item on the market last night after the first post, so maybe that had something to do with it also? Worth noting at least.

I found one solution which worked for me
*in mobile enable automatic date and time + automatic time zone
*in PC enable automatic time too (sync with internet time)

I really don't know what I did that suddenly made push notifications work again for me.. I literally just posted in this thread, posted an item on the marketplace, and suddenly I was getting notifications as normal.. although I do not have sounds or vibrations like I did before.

Really weird stuff..
