Uhm, no it hasn't. From the short time I've been on Steam I can tell you it hasn't. It has more emphasiz on stuff like Groups which are similar to clan pages on a CoD game or whatever, but it's all very basic and bland stuff. There has been an increase in making your profile look the way you want it but that's not what the Artwork Showcase or Screenshot Showcase was meant to be used, and it very clearly states before uploading something to the Artworks section that you MUST have created the artwork yourself - grabbing a gif from Google images or off a video is NOT making it yourself, if anything the latter is stealing. Steam is a monetary platform and this by some companies (some mind you) can be seen easily (since Steam itself decides not to do anything about it) as pilfering, remember that to get these showcases some degree of money is needed (games for cards, items etc) which can lead companies to believe that Steam IS monetizing THEIR work similar to how Megaupload was perceived to allow piracy even though it was the user's fault and uploads that destroyed it and landed the creator on prison - therefore this Artwork nonsense COULD and I mean could, do a LOT more harm than good if the wrong person on a really deuchebaggy company gets wind of it.
Now I agree and suggested a general artworks tab, which is what honestly should be added so they have like an Art page similar to NG where people can upload their stuff worry free, however NG and DevArt have a 'FanArt" Categorization within their art pages, Steam has not. And you know what? If there's no relevant place to upload general artwork, why doesn't somebody just freaking post that as a suggestion instead of plaguing Game Hubs with dumb memes and animu-tarded gifs? I've even seen people repeatedly post these images on different hubs and have em removed almost every time only to post it on a separate Hub instead of ASKING Steam for a general tab. Think of that. There's literally no excuse why you find the lesser popular games plagued with unrelated "artworks".
+1 Rep
Sad
Mang, Looks like you recently got found out, reported and searched the dang Steam Boards looking for people to blame lol. You shouldn't be uploading things that have NOTHING to do with the game. Also, the little Agreement thing you need to click and agree to asks you if you OWN the content, of course that content isn't yours, you don't own it, so why are you breaking an agreement upon uploading lol?
Either way, just let this thread die already and move on.
What the OP is getting at is anime pictures and meme pictures being uploaded as "Artwork" when in actuality they have nothing to do with the game in question.
This thread is atleast a month old by now, someone actually dug this thread up and used a Phoenix Down for no discernable reason. And I personally can't stand these dumb anime flavour of the month gifs going around in my damn Games pages, Ninja Blade particularly was filled to the brim with it a while ago. Steam really should make a "General Artworks" hub for this.
EDIT: Or atleast make a "Gif" uploader for profiles as a showcase itself.
