Do the L2 badges use the same cards as the L1 ones?

I have some duplicate trading cards, but haven't been able to arrange any mutually beneficial trades. I was wondering if there's any point to holding on to the extra cards (say, for a L2 badge), or if the L2 badges have entirely different sets of cards for them. If there's no point, and I can't find anyone to trade with, I might as well sell my extra cards on the marketplace!

They are the same cards.

They are the same type of card, but you need a second set of those cards to make the second level.

You can't use one set of the cards for all five levels, as the cards get used up (deleted) when the badge is created or leveled up.
