Bot buying up all the cards on the market
Unless their is just a huge amount of people rushing to buy up the steam summer sale cards, I suspect a bot is buying up all the cards and then is going to relist them at higher prices. Does anyone know if botting on the market is against the steam user agreement?

Of course it is, but the way the market works, the lag, the scarcity (compared to the abundance) of cheaper than usual cards and the sheer amount of people waiting for it...well it does seem like botting doesn't it and on occasion I feel there are bots working rounds.

But I can never tell. :plane:

I've just never had this amount of trouble buying a single card before. Usually I can get one, but it's been 5 minutes of refreshing and get constant messages saying this card has already been purchased. When I hit refresh there's an entirely new first page every couple seconds.
Valve needs to implement a captcha system to deter bots. To solve the 'already purchased' problem, Valve could add functionality that allows customers to buy items at specific prices (or a range of prices), rather than buying items from specific sellers.

Its either flippers, or bots. If you have ever played a game, with a online market ( like steams), It had bots, flippers, scammers too. Just be aware and for gods sakes dont over pay for items.

maybe adding a 1 week bound to account on market purchases. Might help.

That explicit limitation is under section four.
Whats your point? We know its against the rules. Are you suggesting people are honest, and no one ever breaks the TOS?

My bad i didnt see? Yeah happens all the time.

The bots don't always win however, as that reddit implies, they have to manually set median prices.

Sure , but they can and do manipulate the market.

Everyone does, a bot just does it more obviously and in that specific case...far too much...what was Valve doing for months?

Hehe, good joke..
There are no hackers, there are no botters, we live in a harmonic world full of rainbows, and unicorns, and the steam market definitely does NOT, i repeat, does NOT, let botters flourish.
Especially when some snow globe prices skyrocketed to almost 1$ at some point despite everyone trying to sell these off at 20 cents before that.

Yeah, these should naturally fall to 10 cents or so by January. But...botting. :meatytears:

I just hate this bot buying. So easy detect on valves behalf and make couple tricks to bot buying harder, but there isn`t any effort for it. It also helps valve getting bigger profit off market...

Steam market is a DAM JOKE!!!! Been trying to buy snowglobe cards but caint because they get biught up SOO FAST!! How the heck does this even bypass steam? Figured they dont give too much ♥♥♥♥ considering their still making money from this bs.

I am completely unable to buy a snow globe for the first 2 or more pages because of whatever is going on. Can't possibly click fast enough and always see the red lettered "you may not purchase something that already sold"..
