Is there anywhere where I can download the Steam Profile backgrounds for use as desktop backgrounds on my computer?
Title says it all. Is there anyway I can do that? I'd like to use a background as my desktop background on my computer.

Sorry, didn't think this should be public, so if you want to know friend me and/or offer up a trading card :) ...

Set the background you want as your profile background
Go to your profile and ...................................................
................................................ background-image
Copy ..................................................................., it'll load the image
........................................ or whatever the option is..................

Now you have your background image saved on your system for use as your desktop bkgrnd

If anybody wants this info. Open your profile in google chrome, right click the background and hit inspect element, in the lower right there will be a link to a hd version of the picture. Have a nice day!! :happymeat:

http://www.steamcardexchange.net/ catalogs all cards, emotes and backgrounds from steam, so you can get from there as well.

http://media.steampowered.com/steamcommunity/public/images/items/440/4fac253144bc134a3f6bac4aa23036ade05716eb.jpg is the url for the TF2 Engineer background.
Just did an inspect Element in Firefox, found the url stylesheet entry and bam, totally unguessable url. I'd guess you'd have to convince your friends to find all the URLS by hand for you, if they even have the background. Otherwise try a random hexidecimal filename of 40 characters until something hits, but its going to take you a VERY long time.
