Value Of Trading Cards
Seriously, why do people feel the need to decrease the value of the trading cards so fast, I mean I know it's a battle to have a lower priced card on the market than someone else but when a card's value is starting at around 45 cents, why drop it down to 8 cents in less than an hour. It's just sad to see them become completelty worthless pieces of junk so fast.

Because they want quick turnover on the market. They can't bear to wait 15 minutes at $0.45 to make a sale. Which is stupid because if they sold a few at $0.45, they'd be able to get a game just from their trading cards.

I totally agree! I had a ton of cards to get rid of, and the graph shown when you try to sell drops sharply ever since the summer sale began! Prime time to get new cards (I've almost completed an entire set today), but as for getting profits, sadly you're pushed behind by people who don't want a few cents. These people might as well keep the cards and trade for the prices they are asking!

I'll just hold onto mine until the market stabilizes in 2 weeks.

Here's what I don't like: Say you see an item with it's cheapest being 17 cents. Then you want to make a little more than that but don't want your item pushed to the back, so you sell for 20 cents. More people sell for 20 cents, but instead of them being placed "behind" your older item, they are often placed ahead. How is that fair to those people who've waited a few days for their item to get sold when someone else can post one for the same price and have it sold quicker?

supply and demand, people would rather get a little for it now rather than list it for the prices you say and it never selling

Because if they don't undersell it, they know that someone else will : prisoner's dilemna.

Yeah it is a sad cause, and when you think about it the base card drops in a way should hold 25% value of the actual game it comes from in my opinion, like when I bought Killing Floor, that was a $20 game when I first got it, now cards finally came out for it and the cards weren't even an hour old and were worth nothing. And it even states the card drops it gives you is relevent to the price of the game itself resting at about half the value of the game, if people were smart we would seriously hurt the Steam market with these cards, I was shocked when the introduced the concept of allowing even the slightest cut in Steam's profits but then it makes sense since nobody is willing to wait, I mean I saw a series 25 mann co crate that contained one item and you didn't even know what was gonna be in it for certain and it sold for $35 then dropped to a value of 15 cents, if someone can make $35 off of a crate without even knowing what was in it for a fact think of what could be made off of cards if people were just patient and cared about their value and weren't just interested in selling their card before someone else.

All cards, zero dollars and zero cents.

If I could delete them I would.

That's the way it is...

I highly agree with Ultiman. It doesn't make sense to push the early birds back.

Can't believe this is actually a problem. This is a way for Steam to make money. It's all about profit. I can care less about leveling up my steam account. Of what use is that? I sell my cards for around $.20 and make profit for playing a game I bought years ago. There shouldn't be any issues. It's a simple market for little kids who don't know what marketing and business are. They think getting xp will do something good for them. So they spend money on cards that have no value. Honestly, this is a genius idea and I'm so proud that Steam can make bigger fools out of most of you and make a profit off of it. It's wonderful. Why you refuse to sell a card for 4 cents less is pathetic if you ask me.

BabyPunch3r, you are forgetting that literally 4 days ago, the prices for items were 10x more than they are now. After that steam sale started, the prices dropped like stones. People WERE making more profit, until undercutters pushed back their prices.

I understand that, and that just proves how stupid people are. Spending dollars on items that as most would say, are worthless. They are digital cards. Grow up. You get nothing out of them. So sell that ♥♥♥♥. Steam will always rake in the bucks. If people are dumb enough to spend more than 25 cents on a card, than I will give Steam staff members high fives all around.
