As far as I am aware, a casual gamer is someone who doesn't play games so often, or likes to stick with games that give a very low challenge level to unwind.
I stopped caring about what random people i met on the internet think about me.
And so far, i've been called far worse things than 'casual'. I ended up making a checklist for laughing purposes.
Now that's off your chest OP, you'll be able to laugh at the next one who calls you names.
(just trolling)
(and being serious at the same time^^)
( only saying this because I can't imagine to show as much commitment towards action games as I do towards strategy games :D)
Many games that seem 'light', like some shooters, can have a level of metagame and strategy that can have the depth of an strategy game for some. And some Strategy games reduce their 'strategy' to a couple of known tactics/strategies.
It's just apples and oranges, and we all play our brand of choice to have fun*
It's just when someone decides that his brand of choince or his definition of 'fun' is somehow better, bigger or holier than everyone else's when the problems starts. When people decides to spend more time in telling people how they should have fun gaming, instead of having fun.
At the end of the day, the term 'casual' is what one makes from it. I've clocked over one thousand hours of TF2, and i consider myself a 'casual' TF2 player.
