About how long does it take to earn a trading card?
Planning to leave the games idling and just get the drops over with, anyone have any idea how long it'll take per card?

Huh, I heard just having the game open to at least the title screen would earn them for single-player games like HL and Fairy Solitaire.

You can idle, I have done it on a few games and in fact have just got all 4 drops by idling L4D2. Usually after around 2 hours all 4 drops have been made.

Nice info
You can even idle with the game minimized. I find drops about 1 every 25-40 minutes.

You can have it even hang or crash or glitch out or leave on menu, as long as the friends list or your profile has you green and 'in game' it'll count for you.

The drops seem comparable to TF2, so yes, roughly 25-70 minutes. 1hr per card is a safe bet on average, trying to get 5 cards, leave it for 4 or 5 hrs.

I got all mine by idling with the game minimised. So long as the Steam website / Friends thinks your "in-game", it counts. In fact most of the time, I ran the game, minimised it, and walked away or browsed on the web or watched iPlayer. Every so often I was awarded a card and when my cards for a game were exhausted I went on to the next game. 7 games so far, about 4 cards each, made over £30 on the market selling them, the only one I "played" was Half-Life 2 because I wanted to. Everything else has been done via idling.

Just started looking at the trading cards. Bit miffed that I've put 144 hours into FM2013, for example, and don't automatically get any cards though... I'll live :D

Nah, it only counts the game that steam is currently listing you as playing, so only the first one you opened would get cards.

I was just running Chivalry and Ion Assault and was getting drops for both.

Huh, weird. I've ran two at the same time and it was only giving me cards for the displayed one.

I opened them at the same time so maybe that helped? OR maybe I didn't pay enough attention to my messages screen and already had some drops?

Search "booster" on the market. They are a set of 3 additional card drops that are possible to earn for a game upon exhausting the free drops you get for purchasing the game.

I got a booster pack for FM2013 after eventually earning my initial drops and trading to complete my first badge... I'm sure I read somewhere that you only get them after level 10 but I might be mixing that up with something else...
