Left 4 Dead 1 Free To Play

Dear valve, you could make Left 4 Dead 1 in Free To Play, maybe just with the 4 old maps (No Mercy, Death Toll, Dead Air and Blood Harvest)?

Why would they do that? How would they make money out of it?

Keep in mind that Valve is not a charity it's a business.

Theoretically, it would actually be a good idea. Not a great idea, but a good one. People might think that newer is always better, but in some cases it's not. I do not know if this is the case for the L4D series. Most of the purchases for old games come whenever it is first released, and it does not have a newer version. Most of the purchases have already been made, so if Valve made this free for a weekend, they could show more people how fun the game actually is, if it is even fun for that matter.

Only way it will become free is if they make it another hat-game where you can buy additional outfits and gears. I am already disappointed that they made TF2 in to pay to win or pay extra to access all of the content.

Is l4d2 like that? Disappointing. I was going to purchase when summer sales go on.

TF2 would of died by now if valve didn't do what they did with the game, but I can't see this happening in L4D. I loved L4D1 better than L4D2 but I can't see how valve could make it free to play without losing money. Just make it cheaper...

Free to play and free weekend are two compeletely different things.

The OP is asking for the game to be free to play.

Pay to win how? None of the weapons give an advantage and as far as I can tell they can all be acquired through normal play.
But yeah, if they made L4D free, they would have to add hats or they wouldn't make any money from it. ;)

/Inb4 Polycount set hats. It's the favorite (and only) straw 'Pay2winners' grab.
In any case, since he's banned don't expect an answer anytime soon.

Back to topic. Asking for a game to go Free 2 Play is all bell and whistles until one thinks on how should the developers be paid for their work. Unless there's a valid business plan to keep the income, it's asking the developers to work for free.

old multiplayer games just kinda die out as newer installments are released. its actually a sound buisness model since you wont realy have any one to play with unless you switch to the newest one .

its like when microsoft stops supporting a older version of windows its because they want you to end up buying there new windows program or a new computer either way there happy. you could try to install your old disc on a new harddrive but you wont have all those updates and i think they intentionally make every windows half broken so you need the first 2 years of patches lol

*edit* just saying i wouldnt expect valve to keep it around and make it free instead its in there best intrest to pull the plug after the next l4d
