You can not hide your SteamID, no.
This 76561198347355541 is always visible.
It's senseless to try to hide it. No one can do anything with it.
It can't be used in anyway against you.
However someone having it isn't going to have access to anything you haven't made public yourself.
If the SteamID is an incrementing number then no... since it would be a number that Is getting bigger each time a new account is mcreated...
Hiding it would make sense, as profiling can be carried out via unique account IDs and combined data, but this would require far-reaching changes to be implemented.
Especially with regard to the fact that not every product/dev needs this data and it is not the first time that these ids have been specifically collected for profiling. The problem with Steam in general is that too much data is visible from the outside without logging in.
At the current level, only the pseudo-privacy settings help to “hide” the profile from the public access. However, it does not help that it is still monitored and evaluated on some pages or against access via Steam(Web)API
And hiding it through a Steam login is just security theatre as it offers no friction to retrieve the data, since Steam accounts were public (Steam had a 'visible only to logged users' privacy settings which hwas removed because of that. It only served to give a false sense of privacy)
Thats up for the OP to decide, not you. if he thinks its somehow a negative thing which is driving this request then yes, it is indeed my business as i'm trying to help the OP.
So do you have any suggestions to help the OP, as so far you just seem to be attacking the users who are actually trying to help. Do YOU think its bad to know someone elses Steam idea, otherwise why is it your business how others try to help?
