New Scam: DMs asking for Workshop Upvote
This type of scam will have a steam user:
(1) Adding you as a Friend on Steam, with reasons such as having played some games with you.
(2) Messaging you that they are working on some Workshop project, meanwhile saying that they can play with you sometimes.
(3) Sending you as phishing link with very similar format to steam's (please steam, why the complicated links), asking you to upvote their project. "steam.storescommunity.com/[...]"
(4) Clicking on that site brings you to a perfect replica of the steam workshop page (with different author, but they will say it's their alt account), where you can log-in to steam via the browser, thereby compromising your account.

P. S. I think it would be really helpful to have a collection of different scam tactics being employed by scammer so that fellow users can search for some features in their situations and recognise the scam easier.

So variation of "vote for my team", definitely not new.

Unfortunately those that would benefit the most from reading it, won't do it till their accounts will be already compromised.

A collection as you suggest does nothing because people don't look stuff up until after they have been tricked.

The solution is for end users not believing random messages from random strangers on internet.

Steam has added over the years extensive Support information about the usual kinds of scams and the ways to protect oneself against them.

Unfortunately, like bandages those sites are the ones people mostly look for after the damage is done.

Always try putting strange links in virus total before opening them, as a prevention method, but it doesnt mather the scan virus total make always be aware it could be bad scaned or be very well elaborated

There's a good chance of the account that tried to scam you being a hijacked one. Scamers usually make use of stolen accounts as mules to commit their scams. That may be the reason why you may not see the account banned despite having reported it.
Or maybe moderation is simply taking a long time to act on the report.

Got the same DM, to vote for an item, as well as the promise of getting the skin if it was approved by Valve for an official case:

Well, when I went to the link I was also curious why I wasn't logged in like someone else above. I started to log in, then it asked for a Steam Code. This didn't seem right so I decided to see if I could find this item on the actual Steam website when I was already logged in.

When I couldn't find it I quickly changed my password and reported the account. Then I found this post and am glad I listened to my gut feeling.

The item itself actually looked great and I can see why people would be tricked into doing this.
