so yeah thats not nothing
Gaming mentality these days: Toxic as hell
Companies, bs microtransactions: Toxic as hell
Bad practices, and ignoring customers: Toxic as hell
Moderation bullying people on every forum online: Toxic as hell
Also each is a reality.
People change. What you liked yesterday you may not like it today, and so on.
Gaming remains fun for a lot of people.
Though, gaming is far from "dying" and there still are a ton of new games I love. Most notably, there's Disco Elysium, a game with a fantastic art-style, extremely well-written characters and a narrative where nearly every single decision you make has a massive impact. It was also developed by an independent studio. Speaking of which, a good majority of modern games I consider worth playing were made by indie devs, I'm sure you can find a ton of them on the Steam Store.
Life gets at you, fast.
I like to say I no longer have 'git gud' time. If a game is going to have me spend hours beating a boss, learning a craft system or spendig lengthy amounts of time online I'm probably going to bother little with that game (I most probably won't even buy it)
Games you enjoyed in your 20s may not be that enjoyable in your 40s. And if you don't try to go out of that path to try new things, gaming as a whole can become not that enjoyable altogether.
If you want gaming to be fun again then steam must lose their power and stop being anti-competitive. Competetition is key to progress!
Well even if we could build a time machine, it would only alter the online store.
30% sounds a lot first, but let's put it into perspective how much it would cost to sell CDs?
Well a lot of people seem to forget that distribution of physical copies is kind of more expensive.
do you expect any established company to actually do it?
Surprisingly best games I did recently play, did come from quite small indie teams.
