Any Recommendations for "low spec" Strategy Games?

Hiho there :)

At the moment I play with a pretty bad Laptop in terms of graphical power, but I want to play strategic games :( (Tried both Shogun 2 and Starcraft 2.. no chance.)

The speccs:

i3-310M CPU @ 2.50 GHz
6 GB RAM
Win8 64 Bit
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000
Radeon (TM) HD 7670M

Any Game you can recommend? I personally thought of Empire: Total War, but I don't know how good it is at all and if it will run on my toaster...^^

Help would be nice.

Civilization V is good. and Total war is very demanding graphic wise. Civilization V seems to run fine on my toaster though.

Starcraft/Starcraft Brood War though good luck finding copies anymore.
Frozen Synapse is a good turn based strategy game with a decent AI.
Civ V only really gets intensive on longer games with large numbers of Civs.
Plants Vs Zombies is pretty damn good as well.

- Close Combat series
- - Close Combat
- - Close Combat 2: A Bridge Too Far
- - Close Combat 3: Russian Front
- - Close Combat 4: Battle of The Bulge
- - Close Combat 5: Invasion Normandy

Close Combat series specs req. are incredibly low but is an amazing game. IMO.

According to this site you should be able to run both Shogun 2 and StarCraft 2 on low settings. Empire should run very well. I've played it on a worse rig.

Buy Rome total war and run either Roma Surrectum 2 or Europa Barbarorum mod with it. It's very cheap now and the RS2 mod makes it look beautiful and it should allow you to run it on your laptop.

I used to game with an Inspiron 1545 with lower specs then yours Empire total war should work fine(just don't increase the unit limit to a crazy amount with mods) along with any total war game before it. It's a fairly fun game with mods I put in over a 100 hours with mine.
