What's the deal with random friend requests?

the past year or so I've been getting friend requests from total strangers. No mutual friends and never played a game with them.

my guess was scammers, however none of them ever reply to me when I text them. I even voice call them just to get their attention, lol.

I'm aware that I can just ignore it but what is the purpose of this? are they bots perhaps? I'm oddly curious.

have you actually read my thread? I said that they don't even reply to me when I text them. they just add me out of nowhere and become completely unresponsive the entire time.

I've had a few folks who sent me a friend request asking for CS2 ranks. Unfriended them and reported them. One is actually dealt with, but the other one is still active for some reason.

Yeah that would be meeting them in the forum. What OP is experiencing is like if I would mail him a letter out of the blue.

Erm. I actually do.

Happens from time to time. My best guess is those are scammers who added you but by the time you accept another victim did the same and they are busy with that one.

Or those crazy friend collectors who just want you on their profile like somekind of trophy.

I do understand and I also believe it has to do with those friend collectors. There are plenty of them.
