what is the best controller supported game on steam?
been trying to enjoy my controller that i bought for PC but i cant seem to pick good games.

The best controller supported game is very hard to tell, but fighting games like Mortal Kombat, Injustice and the Street Fighter games are pretty good with them and best experienced with a controller, make a search of games with full or partial controller support because the list is pretty extensive just to hand pick 1 game since there are so many good ones in every genre. :)

I've purchased 2 controllers in the last 2 weeks : a steelseries Free and a MS XBox360
I've tried them with worms armageddon and all works great, no keyboard or mouse neede what soever.

how is the online community? still people playing or is it a wasteland?

To be fair, the best games for a controller on Steam would be anything that has been ported to or ported from the consoles. I know a lot of people hate the words "ported to the PC" but they are, typically, more likely to support a controller. If you were, perhaps, a little more specific about the genre of games that you enjoy, it would be easier to suggest games. Grid 2 for instance has great controller support (console port), both Borderlands games have excellent controller support, The Batman Arkham games, Darksiders 1 and 2. Perhaps take a look at the games you're thinking of and then check if they were also available on either of the major console platfroms - that can be a good indicator of controller support (if not the best).

Edit - Just thought of something else. If you're unsure if the game you're looking at on Steam has good controller support then check the wiki page for each game. Wikipedia is normally quite good at listing all the formats that games have been released on but the Steam Store also has an indicator of if the game is able to support controllers.

bit trip runners, super meat boy, LIMBO and the Assassins creeds and NBA's. i find it difficult to play Assassins creed and NBA with a keyboard so im waiting until i get a controller

Spelunky, Dustforce and Super Meat Boy I think you can't play with a keyboard without loosing your fingers.

All three games are really good, if you like platformers. (Infact, I think most platformers without a controller are really difficult.)

I play most my PC games with Dualshock 4, well i decided to try it on PC after liking it with my PS4, happily gave up chunky xbox pad, gave it to a friend for free lol

I think the game Brothers actually requires you to play with a controller.

I actually found that Dustforce feels much better with a keyboard than a controller. And no, I still have all my fingers.
