Steam Point baiting comments on game update posts
It cant just be me who gets annoyed seeing comments on updates to games I play be filled with people commenting how they want LGBT expression in the game. which is fine, but its almost every post i see. gta enhanced and repo are 2 games I've seen posts on recently and it just gets annoying to see point baiters in comments all the time spamming things like "Add LGBTQIA++ skins and pronouns, Represent your minority players!!! Add DEI before making any other gameplay changes, Diversity Equity and Inclusion is most important." or, "Hi rockstar devs. For the 2nd day Im suggesting to add this. Can you devs add any sort of LGBTQ+ representation to the game? As an transgender, this would increase the playerbase!🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈" just gets tiring to see the same copypastas of people asking for lgbt representations in games for tons of easy points that people for whatever reason give them.

Yeah, this kind of behavior became more common after certain political events related to gender recognition. Some people saw it as an opportunity to post unrelated comments and farm Steam Points.

Since Steam moderation can’t easily ban these posts without facing backlash, they’re becoming more frequent across popular game forums and other platforms. Just to be clear, this is just my personal observation—not a firm statement. I might be wrong, I might be right, I don’t know. Not claiming this as fact or spreading misinformation.

I've seen quite a few earn community bans. Just need the users to report the users spamming posts.

oh sorry, I prefer not to report now since it takes effort and labor but isn’t rewarding at all. Steam doesn’t provide any incentive for the legit users who help clean up the platform by reporting offenders.

the reward is we get less spam and the satisfaction of a successful report. it takes about 5 seconds to report a comment, it cant be too much effort to help clean up the platform
lol... what if we'd gett rewards for reporting stuff...

Oh boy would the forum servers get completly spammed with reports in just seconds...

So... no thanks...

That’s fair, but big platforms recognize contributions in more ways than just personal satisfaction. When official moderators or support staff do the same thing, they get paid, right? So what’s the harm in giving a small in-game item as a token of appreciation for users who help keep the platform clean? Of course, with proper execution to prevent abuse.

Whie the sentiment is good it would completly lead to report spamming...
That's alright, they're creating more hatred towards them so it actually has the opposite affect of what they think it'll do
report their profiles making note of their post history and any comments you see, which clearly outlined the spam and begging across multiple game forums.

in the end, thats all you can do and hope valve removes that begging spam.

I see a lot of this kind of spam. Given the speed of how quickly they get on the first page, I am convinced most of them are bots trying to farm jesters/ steam points.

That's fine, I'm sure someone else will return your shopping cart to the corral eventually anyway.

It's not even a minute! It's two clicks (or 3 taps) and then write a short description where one-two words are enough.

That's not labour.

Yeah, like that's not gonna backfire. Never. Ever. Like, at all. I'm being sarcastic. This is obviously going to backfire.

Look dude, if contributing to a clean community isn't rewarding for you, if you really need a the moral equivalent of a sugar cube, the problem is you.

They're bots. Dead internet theory. Ignore and Block them. There's nothing we can do about it anyway. Engagement using buzzwords like LGBT, DEI, and people crapping on a modern Video game like "This is gonna suck" gives companies more money. That's why the steam points are here.

Look at twitter especially when Elon nerfed the block feature, certain commentary YouTubers were "Excited" to farm more content for it and then look at reddit its another rabbit hole echo chamber where Genuine Human discussions are uncommon and having a echo chamber mind is engagement (reddit awards), proves my point.

I only like the steam points for Artworks, But there's already AI slop in that tab now. Whether you believe it or not Dead internet theory its not really a theory anymore its actually happening and its going to get worse in the future. It is what it is.

Anytime they're even a mention of it, I automatically just block them now. No sense in engaging as it's either bait to just report people to get them banned or they're being dead serious so it doesn't matter what point you make, it's all for nothing.
