Best way to make gems?
The bids have like 200,000 in gems, while I only have 3,000.

Also, do not know why my post was deleted earlier.

What's the best way to farm gems?
I only have 3000 gems, and I can't seem to figure out how people managed to bid more than 100,000 gems.

They have a ♥♥♥♥ ton of unused emoticon and background, cause their level so high (100+).
And buying emoticon and background in market then convert them to gems.
I could only get 8000+ Gems from my items.

Odds are they where the ones who bought up all of the 3cent 100gem emotes and backgrounds. Don't bother looking because they are all about 7-9+cents now so to catch up you would need to spend easily more than double what they did.

tl:dr the event is pay to win and you are best off waiting for the actual sale to start on the 18th

This whole concept is completely laughable. I converted one throwwaway background that I got in some trade just so I could get the badge. That's the only gems my profile is going to see. I don't think people understand the concept that in about a week, that same game they're spending $20 worth of gems on is going to be about $7.50.

There is no good way to make gems. You either had a stockpile of backgrounds/emotes before this all started (read lvl 80+) or you dove into the market and snapped up all the 3c backgrounds/emotes that yielded 80-100 gems.

As it stands if you don't meet one of those criteria you are pretty much SOL since you weren't a high steam level with tons of etc and all the 80-100 gem items are now going for 7-10c+

>Entire Card collection is worth 478 gems
>cheapest item is some DLC ♥♥♥♥ worth 8k gems
>There's no way I'll be able to buy any cards to complete a collection, and I doubt a badge is worth more than a few hundred
>Can't see how Booster packs would make the experience any cheaper than buying the content

Yeah, there's really no point in participating in the gem auctions; you have to spend more on items and gems to win an auction than the games cost (for example, Star Wars Battlefront 2 was on sale for $3 at the start of the auction, $10 full price, and going for at *least* $15 worth of gems).

you had to act fast
saw it first day, saw all holiday 2013 stuff was 100 gems, sold some excess CS go skins, bought about 1000

made a macro and let it click for me
now I got 111300 gems

One tip is just don't make ur trading cards into gems, it's not worth it! Only emoticons or wallpapers :)

Still if you bid on anything you get a free copy of CS:GO (only on first day of bidding).

At this point, I don't think it's worth trying to outbid on the games. I just used the gem opportunity to make a few booster packs.

How about using the Steam Mainpage?
