Steam Friend Removed and Blocked Me

I understand the title is somewhat off-sounding but the circumstances really help explain things better. My friend and I have been steam friends for almost 4 years now, playing many games off and on and chatting on both skype and steamchat. Recently he got Dark Souls 2 and we've been playing co op for a few days now. Then two days ago I came back from classes and noticed he was gone from my friends list. I tried to re-add him but recieved an error message. I tried to leave a comment but no comment bar was on his profile. I then did some research and believe I have been removed and blocked. I am not so much angry as I am confused, since we talked and played recently, and parted on friendly terms, us wanting to play more Dark Souls together. It just seems odd that he would do such a thing all of a sudden with no pretense and I really regret losing a friend who I have had such a good relationship with. I've noticed some other people having simmilar troubles but can't seem to piece together any solutions. I was wondering if anyone had any possible solutions, or should I just give up and move on?

If someone has blocked you, that's really their business, you have no particular right to contact them and they don't really have to justify it to you. I mean theoretically I guess you could try from a different account, but if they actually don't want to talk, you hit harassment territory pretty quickly with stuff like that.

You say you were in contact via both Steam and Skype? Are you blocked on both? If not, use the other to ask. If so...it seems pretty unlikely to be a mistake, wouldn't you say? I'd move on in that case, uncomfortable as it may be.

Yes I suppose you're right, he has every right to block me, as random and unprecendented as it is. I guess I just have to face facts or I'll just become some kinda stalker. Thank you for your advice.

Er, not really, he's not on my friends list and he's blocked me. That means whenever I try and send a friend request I get that message. That's what the error message means according to steam support.

Might change your password. It;s possible your account was compromised and someone tried to use it to scam your friend, in which case it would make sense to block.

Yeah I skyped him a few days ago but still no reply, I've kinda just given up on it since there's nothing else I can really do. If he unblocks me he unblocks me, if he doesn't he doesn't.

Was he a close friend? Judging by the fact that you can contact him through skype I would say yes.

To the last two comments, no additional developments since I sent the skype message, and yes he was a very close friend, he was one of the few people on my friends list who played most of the games I played, as well as one of the few people who would proactively seek me out to play games with, my other friends mostly stick to themselves. At this point I've pretty much given up getting in contact with him so I may as well leave this thread alone after posting this.

Sorry to hear that. Since I can only judge by what you stated since I obviously don't know you two, it sounds rather odd, especially if you two were on good terms the last time you talked. I know in regards to blocking someone (had to do it a few times for legitimate reasons), even if they send you a message...or 1,000 messages (please stop, thanks), I'll still get notifications that they were sent and the little green envelope in the corner letting me know.

So, if you sent him a message via Steam and Skype and he has failed to respond, then I would safely assume he no longer wishes to talk to you, as odd as the circumstances may sound. Hopefully that's not the case, but that's what it sounds like.
