I don't care. I thought Steam was going to be independent and build their own hardware. I was really excited for them about that. Steam going to compete with Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. Not that I would buy a Steam Machine. I'll build my own i7-4790K, Titan X SLI, or AMD R9 390X X-fire, Asus Maximu Hero VII and Asus ROG Swift, 4K, IPS, 60 Hz, G-Sync thank you. No overpriced Alienware for me today or ever. Not saying that Steam Machine is overpriced. Titan X is over priced now and that is the main reason I'm waiting for R9 390X to come out to see how the price war will go.
you heard incorrectly.
I think the only hardware Valve is making is for the Link device. Steam Machines was NEVER to make made by Valve
It was an assumption. I'd like to see more competitors in consoles. Hopefully it means competitive prices. Not that I would ever buy a gaming console.
I could say the same about a Mercedes without an engine. It doen't serve its function.
As one can see, with options available for the PSU, amount of RAM and amount of storage as well as video card (one can put a Titan in it even), it can be as cheap or expensive as one wants and if one really wants, can spring for a custom automotive paint job to top it off.
