Why do i get unknown publisher when i try to download steam
So why do i get the security warning which says the publisher is unknown.Is it bcoz of the steam prob or the prob with my comp? can anyone plz help me. i need a solution ASAP.

This is normal. I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen a software install that didn't have "Unknown publisher". As long as you're downloading it from https://store.steampowered.com , you are fine.

Because Valve never went to the trouble of getting a certificate to associate with their installation executable as the installer gets updated every so often.

Im downloading it from that website but it still shows the NSIS error which says damaged media or incomplete download and i cant install it after that

how do u guys actually download it?
u press INSTALL STEAM NOW and it downloads then u click on the file and it shows security warning publisher unknown

it also says the file does not have a valid digital signature that verifies it publisher

the unknown publisher pops up and shows the unknown publisher thing then i click RUN and it shows NSIS error and the installation cancels i can only press OK

same problem when i try to install the antivirus its says unknown publisher not a valid win32 application

Your downloads of EXE files are being truncated, check your Internet Connection and clear your cache.

You may need to reboot your router, proxy server (System Admin if at a workplace or Uni) and try the downloads again.

I strongly suspect you are at a workplace or University that DOES NOT want you downloading large EXE files.


Otherwise, call your ISP after doing all the above.
