:tradingcard: Potential to be the most valuable card on Steam.

Although the is currently worthless and has a silly emoticon, it is the very first discontinued card (each beta tester only got one card and the trading card system will obviously never be beta tested again.) If people were to hoard this card it could possibly become quite valuable.

Does that seem plausible or am I on crack?

@ rolling ham. I highly doubt that. Giving a "exclusive reward" then making a 2nd batch for everyone seems like it would piss off quite a number of people. Steam is far from stupid

@Rumbarrel Just now seeing this idea. I too have bought out a small share of the market for these cards. It might be a year, and they may only go up to a dollar, but hey, that would still be a profit!

The price will never go up unless they make emoticons consumable. I don't see an increase in demand any time soon (ever) and there is no way to decrease the supply.

well that would fall into your judgement of basic economics.
Just cause there is low supply does not mean the price will increase when there is no change in demand... (inb4 it is just an emoticon, people are not going to go crazy about it if they aren't already) however granted if you were to hoard every single one that exists the price will skyrocket, although you would have to make it announced and create buzz.
