There are probably other games with similar modes but Civ V is the only one that I can think of.
I had problems with runing V so I never found out about it, yes, thank you very, very much.
That's just exactly what I wanted~

Steam tags say it's turn based strategy, but since i don't play turn based strategy games i really don't know if it's a good one or not >.< Just thought i'd suggest it.

Medieval II: Kingdoms. While the base game does not have full multiplayer, the additional campaigns that come with Kingdoms and player created campaigns all allow you to play on the main map with another player hot-seat. And you can send saves to one another, via e-mail too, the game even has a password system so the other players can't mess with your progress.
Many of the campaigns even have co-op in mind, though the game doesn't go so well with head on competitive play since players can only auto-resolve attacks against other players, and auto-attacks are a little bit dodgy. You could have no way of losing, and still lose with auto-attack and since it's multiplayer you don't really have the opportunity to save scum ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ results like that.
good combinations for co-op are
Crusades: Templar Knights + Hospitaller Knights, or Turks + Egyptians
Teutonic: Lithuania + Poland (You would need to hack the game or complete a single player campaign to unlock Poland), or Teutonic Order + Holy Roman Empire (Same with Roman Empire)
Third Age (This is a mod, and a pretty bloody big one, but it's worth it): You have a lot of options here, but the obvious ones are Rohan + Gondor, or Mordor + Isengard
Hell, if you got Third Age, you could have an epic e-mail based Hot-Seat game with 6 or 7 players all picking the forces of light or darkness!
Gondor, Rohan, Eriador (The rangers!), High Elves, Silven Elves, Dorfs, Dale
Or Mordor, Rhun (Men of the East), Harad (Men of the South), Isengard, and Two tribes of wild orcs.
That's not Tolkinesgue fantasy with elves and orcs, by the way. It draws heavily on several world mythologies such as Norse, Japanese, Middle Eastern, Mesopotamian etc - as well as some Lovecraftian mythos.
Wasteland 2 is one of the worts crpgs in a long time. Writing is awful, it's just monologues not dialogues. Author of the story had no idea how characters work and how humans converse. And then there's the way the gameplay evolves. After killing bandits you go on to kill...giant bugs. It's like a giant step downwards...If I would ever have patience to complete this game I could make hours long youtube videos on how it sucks, how much worse it's from any fallout and how much better any old crpg was. Even the first baldurs gate, that had tons of plotholes. Or maybe ultima 8, that one had one of the worst plotholes in it's series and yet felt more organic.
The multiplayer of Total war series is not really what we are looking for, sadly. Mostly becouse of how time-taking a single fight can be. But it is a very, very good game.
I must say that Dominions 4 title looks very interesting and pretty promising. I'm setting my eyes on it, and probably am going to test it out.
Thank you all for your entries, you are really making my lazy life more lazy, but aslo way more convinient. Glad you had that few minutes to spare.
Or Final fantasy Tactics/FFT-A2 Grimoire of the Rift and the Advance Wars series if you have a DS/GBA
Hey Boomy,
Glad you posted this, I'm looking for the same solution myself. Need an extra guy? I love strategy games, but have a busy life where it can be hard to put in a 3-5 gaming session. A self-paced TBS would be perfect. Please feel free to hit me up if you're looking for extra guys: georgenielsen86 {a} gmail.com.
